wrath of the bygone god

at our full strength

"i heard a saying from a human while I was waiting for you, pterodactyl"  archaeopteryx smiled when the newly embiggened pterodactyl god came to the place archaeopteryx was resting. "they say that size doesn't matter. you've been around more humans than I have, so why is it that you still believe that becoming big will help you beat me. I'm still stronger than you will ever be." as archaeopteryx was about to make another comment, the powerful claw of pterodactyl god slammed into the ground, catching and pinning archaeopteryx by a single feather. laughing, archaeopteryx removed the pinned feather from his body and stood in fighting stance. the clash of the gods was about to begin. the great god pterodactyl vs the bygone god archaeopteryx.

"dont you dare hold back on me, pterodactyl."
"bold of you to assume that that was an option"

the intense screeches of the two gods echoed through the land as the impacts shook and destroyed any structure turning the once decently developed town into a barren wasteland. the duo crashed through cars and other civilian things. archaeopteryx landed a strong blow on pterodactyl's chest, sending the giant being down a street. seizing this chance, archaeopteryx charged at pterodactyl claws outstretched ready to take his heart. in a desperate defense, the downed god threw a certain lamborghini at the attacking titan, causing the multi million dollar car to explode as archaeopteryx smashed into it

"what the heck? why would you do that?" a woman yelled in frustration that her and her husbands car was destroyed.

"get out of here! its not safe!" pterodactyl shouted at the enraged woman.

"I would but you destroyed my car" she retorted "hey! watch out!" 

archaeopteryx had recovered from the blast and had launched an attack on pterodactyl. barely able to respond in time, pterodactyl had managed to whack archaeopteryx with his wing sending the beast back through the roof of a certain steakhouse. 

"theres too many civilian buildings here, if i launch the weapon now, archaeopteryx wont be the only thing destroyed. i cant let that happen, i have to draw him to the mountains." pterodactyl thought to himself. still dazed, archaeopteryx was met with a flurry of devastating attacks from pterodactyl. not letting up for even a second, pterodactyl beat the rampant archaeopteryx through any obstacle that was in his way across the length of crow coast city eventually delivering a full force kick to knock archaeopteryx through mount Paravíasi as soon as they reached the city limits. pterodactyl flew up into the sky, ready to charge into archaeopteryx's weakened body to finish the fight "guess i didn't need the weapon after all." 

however, archaeopteryx was feigning his injuries, choosing to lay on the ground to recover a little energy instead of getting up to fight. as a result, pterodactyls charging attack was stopped and redirected by archaeopteryx. the two behemoths continued their exchanged of blows laying waste to the lickopopo mountain range and the forest that made up the mountain bases. throughout this fight pterodactyl made sure to fight with his back to mount Ópio even if it didn't make tactical sense. many hits were taken by pterodactyl in order for him to sustain this position. archaeopteryx had found it puzzling at the time but decided that the reason for pterodactyl's strange behaviour was most likely brain damage caused by the numerous blows he had taken prior. 

aiming to claw out pterodactyl's eyes, archaeopteryx soon found himself trapped in the massive talons of the other ancient bird. after being scratched by archaeopteryx, pterodactyl then stabbed his long beak through archaeopteryx's body, causing the prehistoric monster to fall to the ground in a moment of weakness. the leftover growth serum in his bloodstream soon began to heal the wounds caused by the battle. in his last moments, archaeopteryx saw this healing and recalled something from his time on the parliament. the growth serum had healing properties as well. he knew that there was no way pterodactyl could have grown in size and completely healed in the time he was gone meaning that pterodactyl had taken the growth serum in that time. as a last ditch effort to continue the fight, archaeopteryx licked the blood off his claws, hoping that that there would be enough growth serum left in the blood of pterodactyl that had stained his claws when they were fighting to heal his wounds. unfortunately for pterodactyl, there was. archaeopteryx was able to partially recover from his wounds allowing him to stand up and fight again. as the wound around his belly closed up and the bleeding stopped, he said coldly, "ha. guess I'll have to start trying a little." and so with the rejuvenation of both sides, the battle commenced once more.

archaeopteryx soon landed another solid blow to pterodactyl causing the great god to fly through the trees of the forest. archaeopteryx decided to try to take pterodactyls heart with his claws one more time, knowing that there wasn't a tree on the planet that could stop him at his full strength. just as he was about to reach pterodactyl, he was blinded by a light that came from the top a mountain. archaeopteryx scowled, he knew that he had to destroy the source of the light. he looked towards the source of the light and from the corner of his eye, saw that pterodactyl looked distinctly worried that archaeopteryx knew about the existence of the source of the light. "so thats why he fought with his back towards that mountain. whatever is on that mountain, he wanted to make sure I didn't find out it existed. he probably thinks it can stop me. I'll go crush his hopes first then him" archaeopteryx thought dashing through the sky towards the light. the light was caused by the weapon reflecting light from the sun. knowing that archaeopteryx would destroy the weapon if he reached it, pterodactyl leapt up and headed for the weapon.

archaeopteryx was puzzled by the weapon when he reached. having been locked up in a dark room for the better part of 80 years, he had not witnessed the recent innovations of the world. to him, it looked like a incredibly large gun from his time but he had never seen a gun mounted to a mountain nor had he seen a gun with no physical trigger. regardless, he knew that a gun was useless if the bullet fired could not hit the target, therefore he opted to destroyed the barrel as it was the part used to accelerate the projectile. deciding that his best chance to destroy the gun as quickly as possible was to just slam into the muzzle and follow through the rest of the gun he circled around the gun and accelerated his gargantuan body straight for the gun, not unlike a breakneck rush. 

in order to distract archaeopteryx pterodactyl went against everything he knew and shouted "SNEAK ATTACKKK!!" archaeopteryx briefly looked back at the approaching pterodactyl who had nothing but a wide grin and a clenched claw. "you lose" pterodactyl god smiled diving to the ground as he said that. archaeopteryx turned his attention back towards the gun, continuing along his trajectory. right as he was about to collide, the gun finished charging and launched the metal ball out front. archaeopteryx was quick enough to mostly dodge the ball with the ball only disintegrating his legs however the impact was so great that his wings were torn off and the feathers on his body were stripped off. archaeopteryx, now unable to fly or walk fell to the ground where pterodactyl god walked up to him. 

"my best friend, in your final moments I present an offer. if you promise to rejoin the parliament and not to attack our members, I will give you this," pterodactyl god said holding out a vial with a liquid inside. the liquid was the growth serum, he had originally meant to use to heal himself and boost his strength in case archaeopteryx was able to subdue him but now it served a different purpose. "I dont want to see you dead, I am the reason youre alive right now, I alone overruled the decision to kill you back then. please come back to the parliament, I will even share the title of god with you. I just want to be with my best friend again." pterodactyl god pleaded.

"then you can join me in hell." archaeopteryx growled, manipulating his body's muscles to launch him upwards and his beak towards pterodactyl's chest. obviously this didn't have much of an effect on pterodactyl who barely even flinched at this last attack from his best friend.

"I'm sorry it had to end this way." pterodactyl said, crying as he bent down and picked what was left of archaeopteryx's body in his massive mouth. "goodbye my friend."

"I'll be waiting for our rematch." archaeopteryx smiled. pterodactyl then clamped his mouth shut, crushing the second god into chunks of flesh and bone. as archaeopteryx's feathers rained down, the lone god pterodactyl stood amidst the rubble and wept.
