It's been two years since the events of New York and the city, as well as, the whole world is recovering. Countries around the world raced to find some kind of weapon to protect them from otherworldly invaders. New York and her people tried to find some way to carry on with normal life after the Chitauri attacked. Rubble and ash still littered the streets and many neighborhood businesses had been demolished during the invasion. Many people looked to the sky in fear, wondering where the next explosion might go off.
However, others looked towards the cloud for hope. To see the heroes who protected them and saved their city. The world. Tony Stark was still around New York, donating his company money and resources to whatever rebuilding charity he could find. But it was uncommon to see 'Iron Man' flying around the city compared to before the attack.
The city skyline stood as a testament to the scars of war, the towering skyscrapers now interlaced with scaffolding and cranes, slowly breathing life into the wounded concrete structures. The streets were no longer bustling with the same energy they once had, but a determined spirit lingered in the air, like a whisper of resilience.

Nick Fury stood in his office overseeing the capital of the nation, Washington, D.C. A lot had changed since New York, S.H.I.E.L.D. was moving in a direction that Fury questioned. The council moved him to a job behind the desk and he could tell the tides of the organization were changing.
No longer the man on the frontlines, Fury found himself surrounded by paperwork and political jargon. The thrill of the field had been replaced by the monotony of bureaucracy, and it gnawed at him every day. He missed the adrenaline rush, the camaraderie of his team, and the sense of purpose that came with protecting the world from imminent threats.
But there was something else that gnawed at Fury, something that went beyond the confines of his office walls. It was a nagging feeling, a gut instinct that whispered to him in the dead of night. He couldn't shake the feeling that the peace they had fought so hard to achieve was fragile, hanging on by a thread.
"You just can't stop yourself from lying, can you?" Fury's attention snaps to Steve Rodgers, letting out a sigh he turns. around faces the captain. "I didn't lie. Agent Romanoff had a different mission than yours."
"Which you didn't feel obliged to share," Steve commented.
"I'm not obliged to do anything." Fury looked back towards the skyline. "Those hostages could've died, Nick."
Fury clenched his jaw, feeling the weight of Steve's words. He knew the truth in them, but he couldn't allow himself to admit it out loud. Not when the world was still fragile, not when every decision he made had the potential to tip the scales in favor of either chaos or peace.
"Steve," Fury said calmly, turning towards him. "Sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good. You know that better than anyone."
Steve's eyes narrowed, his brows furrowing in frustration. "And what about trust, Nick? What about transparency?"
Fury's gaze hardened as he locked eyes with Steve. "Trust is a luxury we can't always afford. This is a war we're fighting, and in war, secrets become necessary."
Steve shook his head, disappointment etched on his face. "That's where you're wrong, Nick. The real battle isn't just against those external threats; it's about staying true to our principles.
