As Connor surveyed the aftermath of the intense fight, the truth about Hydra's involvement in Steve's disappearance became horrifyingly clear. He knew he couldn't trust Pierce or SHIELD any longer. As he pulled his weapon from the last Hydra agent's body and sheathed it on his back, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

He didn't know where Steve could be hiding, but if the reports were about Fury, if he could find him then might be able to find Fury. Pierce mentioned the director had been shot, now it's only a matter of where they took the director's body to be operated on.

After interrogating a few more Hydra agents, Connor learned that he was taken to D.C. Medical, so he decided to make his way there. Armed with his newfound information, Connor made his way through the halls of D.C. Medical, ready to face any challenge that came his way. He knew that time was of the essence and that he couldn't afford to be caught off guard.

As he entered the building, he didn't know what to believe. Every staff member might be an advocate for Hydra or they could simply be normal everyday citizens. He had no idea what or who he could trust.

Looking around the hallways he saw a tall hooded figure, a shorter female wearing similar clothing, escaping into an unused operating room. Curious he made his way forward trying to avoid drawing attention to himself but it would if it wasn't possible. That's when he noticed her, for just a second, the red hair glistened against the lights before being locked behind the door.

"Natasha?"He entered the room, only to find Natasha lifting her shirt up and Steve eyeing something on her body. Connor could only imagine what he was looking at.

"A decorated captain and a world-famous assassin? You two are straight from some kind of enemies to lover book." Connor said causing Steve and Natasha to turn and immediately separate.

"Connor? It's not what it looks, she was showing me a scar left behind by a similar bullet used in Fury's assassination," Steve assured. Natasha faked a hurt face, "Is that all I am to you, Rogers? An evidence board? I thought you were different."

"Anyways, it's good to see you guys again. I'm sure you've heard about Hydras S.H.I.E.L.D. involvement by now?"

Connor's eyes flickered between Steve and Natasha, his mind racing with conflicting emotions. Despite the tension in the room, he knew that they were both on the same side when it came to taking down Hydra. "I've had a run-in with some Hydra agents myself," Connor began, his voice low and serious.

"Pierce is using SHIELD to further Hydra's agenda. Fury's death was just the beginning." Natasha's eyes narrowed as she processed Connor's words. "That would explain a lot," she said, her tone laced with venom. "We need to expose Pierce and dismantle Hydra's influence within SHIELD before it's too late."

Steve nodded in agreement, his jaw set with determination. "We can't let them use SHIELD as a tool for their own gain. Fury wouldn't have wanted that."

Connor glanced at the trio, a sense of unity settling over them despite the circumstances. "So what's our next move?" he asked, his gaze shifting to the pair.

"Luckily for us, the flash drive we recovered has some information that might help us on that front. But we need to get somewhere that we can hack into it."

Connor thought of a place and smiled, "Steve when was the last time you've been shopping?"

"The mall? This was your big idea?" Natasha was trying to hack into top-secret government information...on a laptop in the Apple store.

"Well, when you come up with an idea I'm all ears Red." Connor stood next to her, making sure they weren't being followed.
