Chapter 8 - Clues

Nashi's POV

Uncle Gray dropped us off in front of our place and then Dad and I went up to our penthouse. On the drive over, Dad called Uncle Laxus to let the rest of the mafia know he found me and to return to Headquarters. As soon as Dad opened the front door of our penthouse, I saw Auntie Mira trying to calm down Igneel who was crying. Beside him was Carlos, rubbing his leg in comfort.

When Igneel saw me, he ran and gave me a tight hug. "Nashi!" he cried. I felt guilty for making Igneel cry even though I had a good reason for my actions. "I'm sorry for worrying you Igneel" I said as I hugged him back. He sniffled but wouldn't let me go. Behind me, Uncle Gray walked through the front door with Auntie Erza. "Are we ready to continue our meeting or will we postpone it?" Auntie Erza asked, giving a not-so-subtle glance at me. Well, I couldn't blame her, I did overhear their meeting before.

"Let's continue the meeting and Nashi will be joining us" Dad replied. "Are you sure we should be including a child? You know Lucy will be furious if she gets hurt" Uncle Gray asked. "As heir of Fairy Tail, she should get used to seeing how we work. Besides, Nashi and I made a promise that she could help us with finding Lucy, but she can only attend meetings related to Lucy's kidnapping. She will leave all the fighting to me and my men" Dad explained. "Ahem" Auntie Mira and Auntie Erza fake-coughed. "And women" Dad sweat dropped and then they smiled proudly.

Igneel looked up at me with teary eyes. "Mira, do you mind watching Igneel while we have our meeting? Erza can fill you in on the details later" Dad asked. "No problem. How about we play a game while we wait Igneel?" Auntie Mira replied as she crouched down beside us. "No!" Igneel cried while hugging me tighter. "Igneel, let me go" I said. "You can't go. I can't lose you like Mummy" he cried. My heart ached, me running away must've hit him harder than I thought. He must've been worried that the bad men who took Mum would find and take me away too.

Dad walked over and crouched down beside us. "Igneel, listen to me" he said softly and Igneel looked at him. "I won't let any harm come to you or Nashi. She's just going to help me find your mother. Do you trust me?" he asked. Igneel nodded, "then trust me when I say I will find your mother and keep Nashi safe" he said. Igneel took a short moment to think and then let me go. "Good boy, now go play with Mira and we'll be finished soon" Dad said with a smile and ruffled his hair making him smile. Igneel followed Dad's instruction and ran over to Auntie Mira.

Dad stood up and looked at Uncle Gray and Auntie Erza. "Let's continue this meeting" he said and then held his hand out to me. I took it and he walked me to his office with Uncle Gray and Auntie Erza following behind us. Once inside, Uncle Gray closed the door and Dad took me to his seat. He sat down and then sat me down on his lap.

"Has your mind changed about refusing the demand?" Auntie Erza asked. "No and Nashi now understands my reasoning" Dad replied, and I nodded. "Before we discuss our next move, I want to show Nashi the second video we found from the kidnappers. If that's alright with you Nashi?" he added. "Yeah, show me" I replied, prepared for whatever the video was going to show. "Wait a minute, what about the first one?" Uncle Gray asked. "Long story short, she has already seen it" Dad replied. Uncle Gray raised an eyebrow but didn't question further. Dad took Mum's phone out of his pocket and brought up the video.

The same man from the previous video stood next to Mum. He stated his demand of $500 million in a safety deposit at Magnolia City Bank within the next two days. He also said if Fairy Tail tried any tricks or refused their demand, Mum would get punished before proceeding to slowly cut her chest deep with his knife to show how serious he was. It was horrible to watch but I did want to be involved in Dad's investigation.

"In the first video, we found your mother left a morse code with the letters 'PL'. Levy has been trying to figure out what it means. She's been looking at places and names with those initials. Speaking of her, I need her to join this conversation" Dad said and then called Auntie Levy through video call on his computer. Uncle Gray and Auntie Erza walked around to stand behind us to see the screen. After a couple of rings, Auntie Levy answered. "Yes boss. Oh hi Nashi" she answered, surprised to see me. In the background, she looked like she was in her office.

"What have you found about Lucy's message?" Dad asked. Auntie Levy looked hesitant but answered. "I've looked up every place and name in Fiore. There are ten places with the initials 'PL', Prince Lycan Memorial, Paul Lincoln Hospital-." As she was listing names, I remembered a game Mum used to play with me and Igneel. When we played Hide-n-Seek, Mum used to be so good at hiding that she would leave little clues for us to find. She would just leave pieces of paper with letters and we had to figure out where the next clue would be hiding until we found her. For example, 'KF' would mean 'Kitchen Fridge.' My mind thought, 'what if Mum was giving a clue on WHO took her?'

"Pierce Lucasta Road, Pete Luther College-." "Wait" I said interrupting Auntie Levy. Dad looked at me interested. "Did you notice something?" he asked. "Mum used to use letters as clues in Hide-n-Seek. What if Mum was telling us who took her?" I explained. Dad looked like a light bulb lit up in his brain as his eyes widened. He quickly pulled up the video again and paused it at the part where the man held the knife. He zoomed in on the knife and glared at it. "Now, I know where I've seen this knife before" he growled. "Boss?" Auntie Erza questioned. "Phantom Lord took her" Dad growled.
