Star Light: Power Within (Sonic Fanfiction)

Chapter two

Shadow walked through the halls of an apartment building, looking around and mumbling to himself quietly. "Which one was it.." He whispered to himself with a worried expression as he walked on the carpet counting the numbers one by one above the doors.

A loud bang came suddenly from one of the doors, causing Shadow to jump and stand in a fighting position. "What the-" "OW!!" A voice shouted from the room as Shadow growled under his breath. 

The door was quickly opened and Amy popped her head out and quickly looked around, spotting Shadow and her eyes lighting up. "Shadow!!" The pink hedgehog exclaimed before grabbing Shadow's arm and pulling him inside. Shadow's snapped wide open as he stumbled inside, "W-WOAH!" 

Amy quickly shut the door behind the two as Shadow rubbed his head, ears twitching to the side while he glared back at the other hedgehog. Amy smiled nervously and chuckled lightly before Shadow scoffed and looked up.

The apartment was massive, the outer wall was one huge window and steps went down from the entrance to the living room as a chandelier hung from the ceiling, reflecting the sun light off of them magically. The living room area had a large white couch and a huge fireplace with a TV over it and little trinkets placed on top. "Wow." Shadow said as he slowly blinked and rubbed his eyes. "Yep!" Amy said with a giggle, "I did I good job, huh?"

Rouge sat on the couch with Tails to her side and Aster sitting in front of her as she brushed his hair. "OW!!" The small pup yelped and flinched away. The bat glared at him and growled lightly, "Stay still, Goldie Locks. When was the last time you brushed your hair?!" Blaze looked up as she was leaning against the massive window with her eyes closed while Rouge had been struggling for the last half hour. 

"What I'm the world is going on here?" The striped hedgehog asked while raising his eyebrow, hand placed on his hip as his free hand did the limp wrist gesture. Sonic popped his head in from the kitchen with a cheeky grin on his face before leaning in the door frame as he ate a chili dog. "Rouge's been trying to brush Star Boy's hair." He quickly explained. "Which. Sucks." The gray wolf pup whimpered. 

The hedgehog walked down the small set of stairs with a slight confessed expression as Rose leaned against her hammer with a small smile. "It's not my fault your hair's never been brushed." Rouge said with a soft and empathetic look, "Do you want me to just cut it off? It would hurt less." "No!!" Aster quickly pulled his sweater over his head and shut his eyes tight. 

A gently sigh was the only sound Rouge let out before getting back to brushing. Aster yelped again and Tails flinched while he sat next tp them, ears going flat against his head. "A-are you sure he's ok?" "He's fine." Blaze spoke up with a flat tone glancing up at Amy before quickly looking back down and closing her eyes. The small fox groaned quietly, shifting his body away slightly.

Aster whimpered lightly and groaned while covering his ears. "It can't be that bad." Silver jumped in the conversation as he levitated by the fireplace, inspecting the little gems placed on top, "Are all of these stolen?!" he exclaimed while quickly turning his gaze over to the fruit bat, her eyes snapping open wide. "Pff! nooo- Yes." Her expression quickly went flat, almost everyone in the room glaring daggers at her. 

"WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!?" The bat shouted, tossing her hands in the air. "Quiet." Aster chimed in with an unamused face, Tails trying to hold in his laughter as he covered his mouth, coughing and tearing up slightly. Rouge glared at the yellow fox who just continued to giggle before falling off the couch and bursting out with cackles, Sonic quickly joining in and wiping away tears as he slapped his leg.

Rouge rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Haha, very mature." She mocked, causing Silver to giggle a bit as he covered his mouth, Blaze rolling her eyes playfully and smiling slightly at the white hedgehog. "Is everyone here turning into Shadow or is it just you two?" Sonic said with a smug smirk. "Zip it, faker." The black hedgehog growled under his breath and Amy giggled at the two. "Ohhh~ Pulling out the 'faker,' are we~?" Sonic teased, standing fully in the doorway with his arms crossed.

Blaze sighed and glared towards the two boys before they got into another argument. "Can we not? Just not today." The cat said raising her eyebrow with an annoyed look and gently shaking her head. Shadow groaned, "Whatever." 

The small fox gently leaned forward and bit down on his lip nervously. "Uh-" He studdered quickly, looking up at Rouge slightly, "We're still going to the zoo, right? I'm not trying to rush or anything I just wanted to make sure since I had plans and-" "Of course we're still going, little buddy!" Sonic cut in making Shadow's eyes roll with a small loving smile as the blue hedgehog zoomed over to Tails and ruffled his head.

Tails laughed and playfully pushed Sonic away. "Stop that!!" He shouted between his giggles, the hedgehog putting him in a brotherly headlock. "I don't think I am any time soon!!" Sonic teased, "Not until you tell me what you have planned." Tails was quick to stop laughing, his ears going flat as his eyes went wide. 

"Uh- n-nothing! Just was planning to show Aster around! That's all!" Tails made up a lie and kicked his bag under the couch while keeping Sonic distracted. "Great!" Rouge exclaimed, placing the brush on the glass table with the smug smirk, "Cause I'm all done." 

The fox was just not catching a break that morning was he? "Come on! Let's go!!" Sonic chirped and grabbed Aster carefully, tossing him onto his shoulders. "Woah!" The pup giggled happily and quickly lacked onto the hedgehog, eyes shutting closed. Tails smiled shyly as his heart began to flutter, quickly getting up as everyone rushed out the door.

Amy called out to all of them as she stood in the door way and gestured for them to hurry, "Come on!! It's already 11 o'clock!! We don't wanna be late." "Coming!!!" Tails replied and raced towards the door, completely forgetting his backpack underneath the sofa.
