Star Light: Power Within (Sonic Fanfiction)

Chapter three

Tails quickly ran out of the lobby, nearly knocking over the bellhop as he raced off. The man quickly regained his balance and gripped onto his hat once the fox past, letting out a breath of relief. His eyes shut calmly before the small wolf pup sprinted out of the doors and bumped into his leg. 

"WOAH-" The bellhop fell to the ground with a thud, shouting in frustration. Amy dashed out of the entrance and stopped to help him up. "So sorry, sir!!" The pink hedgehog apologized and helped fixed the man's hat, "They're really excited." "TAILS!!!" Aster called out in dismay as he chased after the twin tailed fox, only making Amy more apologetic. The man sighed and adjusted his cuffs. "It's fine, ma'am. Enjoy your day." He spoke calmly and bowed his head. Amy quickly smiled at him and hurried off after the boys.

Laughter filled the air up as Tails ran down the sidewalk with a gleaming smile, Aster trying to catch up as best he could. "TAILS!!! WAIT UP!!!" The pup called out, his eyes pleading as his ears pressed down against his fur. Tails looked back as they ran, laughing and grinning at the wolf. "COME ON!!" Aster groaned in response to Tails' call.

The fox stopped in front of rail that looked over the ocean, jumping onto it using the momentum from his run, laughing joyfully as he leaned over the edge. Aster caught up after a moment, panting heavily since the two had ran for about a block. The wolf leaned over slightly as he grabbed onto his knees for support. "Did... Did we have to-..." He slowly looked up, walking over to where Tails stood as he climbed onto the bars of the dock, his eyes starting to sparkle against the clear blue sea.

Aster stared in amazement as Tails gaze softened, smiling lovingly at the pup, his heart starting to race and he leaned his head onto his hand which rested on the barrier. Tails sighed contently before Aster looked over to him in confusion. The fox's faced turned red within a second and he stumbled over his hand as he quickly turned away and looked out to the ocean.

A small sound of confusion came from the pup's mouth but he didn't question it, looking back out to sea before his eyes lighting up. "Tails, look!!" Aster quickly pointed off to the ocean as a family of dolphins jumped from the water. A small group of people were quick to run over to the railing, grabbing out their ceil phones as many of them squealed at the sight of the creatures. 

Amy and the others stood off to the side as they made sure to keep an eye on Tails and Aster, Shadow rushing to take notes of each person that appeared in his peripheral. Sonic zoomed over to the group of friends, his ear buds in as he did the moon walk and hummed quietly. The dark hedgehog sighed and rolled his eyes in annoyance, turning his head away as he mumbled underneath his breath. "Hot idiot." 

Rouge leaned in front of him in response after hearing the striped hedgehog's whisper, a wide smirk on her face. "What?" Shadow whispered irritated, growling quietly as he crossed his arms and leaned back. "You like him!" The bat exclaimed quietly while standing next to Shadow. "And?" The hedgehog questioned, rolling his eyes afterwards, "It's not like he likes me back. I doubt the idiot even trusts me." 

"Oh don't think like that!" Rouge glared as she spoke quietly, crossing her arms over her chest with her eye brow raised, "He trusts Silver after what happened, why wouldn't he trust you-" "That's different." Shadow didn't even bother to let her finish her sentence, not even making eye contact with the bat before sighing in defeat. "It does matter if he trusts me or not... He'll never like me of all people with fan girls left and right to choose from."

Rouge sighed silently and reached out her hand slowly. "Shad-" "GUY!!" Tails quickly cut her off without realizing, waving the others over as they stood next to Aster on the railing. Rouge watched as Shadow and the rest of the group walked over to the kids, pulling her arm back before following along gloomily. Sonic quickly looked up from his music and took out the ear bud in one ear before chasing after the others.
