It's almost been and hour and Edmund still hasn't returned. I was pacing around the How anxiously waiting for him to arrive.
Peter: Don't worry Emily, he'll be fine.
As soon he said this someone entered the room. I saw that it was Edmund and as soon as I saw him, I ran towards him and hugged him. I quickly let go of him aware of the other people in the room.
Caspian: So did my uncle accept the challenge?
Edmund: Yes, he accepted.
Peter: Okay then. Susan and Lucy, you two better get ready to leave.
Peter left the room followed by Caspian and then Susan and Lucy left as well leaving me and Edmund alone.
Edmund: You were worried about me, weren't you?
Me: Of course I was.
At this Edmund started laughing and I knew exactly why.
Me: Yeah, yeah I know I'm a worry wart. What happens if The Telmarines don't keep their side of the deal?
Edmund: Then we'll have war.
Me: I'm scared. Anything can happen and a lot of things can go wrong. What if you get hurt? What if Peter gets hurt or worse killed? What if Lucy and Susan don't find Aslan on time?
Edmund walked closer and faced me. He cupped my face and made me look at him.
Edmund: Hey, relax. Everything will be fine. We've been to a lot of wars in the past and we won all of them. You have nothing to worry about. Honestly, I should be the one getting worried about you.
This made me laugh a bit.
Me: Whatever you say. But promise me that you'll be careful and you won't be killed.
Edmund: As long as you promise the same thing.
Me: Of course. Make sure you keep it as well. I'll be going. I'll just check on Lucy and Susan.
At this I left. When I reached the entrance of the room, I heard Caspian's voice. I walked closer to see what was happening.
Caspian: I think it's time you have this back. *Handing Susan the horn*
Susan: Why don't you hold on to it. You might need to call me again.
They stared at each other for awhile and I could tell that Lucy felt so uncomfortable. Then the horse finally galloped away and Caspian watched as it goes away.
Me: You like her, don't you?
Caspian turned around and he looked surprise.
Caspian: Emily, I didn't know you were standing there.
Me: Hey you didn't answer my question.
Caspian: Umm... well....
Me: I think I know the answer already. Don't worry I think she likes you too. I can see it in the way she looks at you.
He kind of looked embarrassed but quickly got his composure back.
Caspian: How about you and King Edmund?
At this we started walking out of the room.
Caspian: You two seem to like each other a lot.
Me: Yeah we do but we chose not to date just yet. You know with all this mess happening.
Caspian: I see.
We walked quietly and when we reached the other room, we saw that Peter was already finished getting ready. I quickly went to him and hugged him.
Me: Please be careful.
Peter: Don't worry. I will.
I let go of him and kissed him on the cheek.
Me: Good luck and try not to die,
Edmund: Hey why don't I get one of those.
This caused all of us to laugh.
Me: You get so jealous easily.
I went to him and hugged him.
Me: Watch over your brother. Watch the Telmarines as well. They might do something to Peter.
Edmund: Okay, I will.
I was about to kiss him on the cheek when he faced me causing me to kiss him on the lips instead. I quickly pulled away with a shocked look. We were both just looking at each other and we started to lean in until we heard someone clear their throat.
Peter: Sorry to interrupt, but Ed, we have to go.
Edmund: Right.
He kissed me on the cheek before he walked towards Peter. He looked back at me before exiting the How and mouthed 'I love you'. I said it back and watched them leave.
Caspian: You should stay with the archers. You'll have a better view of the fight and you'll be able to see if my uncle and his men are up to something. If you see anything suspicious, shout any of our names. I have to go.
Me: Where are you going?
Caspian: I have a feeling that Lucy and Susan are being followed.
Me: Okay. Be careful.
Caspian: You too.
At this he left to get his horse and I headed toward the ledge where all the archers were staying. I stood beside Trumpkin and awaited for the duel to begin. Oh Aslan, please help Peter.
