Chapter 26:
A Rift UnfoldsThree days had passed since the chaotic incident that turned Sejal's life upside down. Arjun remained hospitalized, Ankita bua's constant criticism echoed through Geeta's phone calls, and Sejal, shying away from the Chavan mansion's environment, was still seething with anger towards Geeta for her silence that fateful night.
Sejal's silent treatment towards Geeta persisted, a heavy tension lingering in the air. Determined to maintain her distance, Sejal resorted to having her meals sent from her own home, refusing any offerings from the mansion's staff, knowing Geeta was behind the gestures.
Despite Mihir and Vanraj's persistent attempts to persuade Sejal to move on from the incident, she remained steadfast in her resentment. Sejal's cold avoidance towards Geeta deeply wounded her, making her yearn to apologize and bridge the growing gap between them. But Sejal's deliberate ignorance made Geeta emotionally vulnerable.
As Sejal prepared to leave for her parents' house after work, she maintained her resolve, walking past Geeta without a word. Her decision to spend time with her own family signified her unease with the current situation at the Chavan mansion.
At her parents' place, Sejal discussed the ongoing turmoil with them. Concern clouded her parents' thoughts as they worried about Rishabh's family and their capability to care for their daughter amidst such chaos.
Sejal's choice to distance herself from the mansion and her reluctance to engage with Geeta showcased her inner turmoil and her desire to maintain a sense of control over her own life, uncertain about the circumstances thrust upon her. Meanwhile, Rishabh's promise to pick her up after her visit revealed a subtle attempt to bridge the gap, yet the distance between Sejal and the Chavans seemed to grow wider with each passing day.
Time skip.
Sejal sat with her parents, discussing the complexities of her relationship with Geeta, her mother-in-law. Unsure of the best course of action, she sought advice.
Sejal: "I'm not sure how to handle things with Maa. Should I forgive her and reconnect like before or maintain some distance?"
Her father offered thoughtful advice, encouraging forgiveness but also caution in forming emotional ties.
Dad: "Forgiveness is a noble act, Seju. But it's okay to be cautious too, my dear."
Sejal: "But how do I do that? I feel so torn."
Dad: "Think of forgiveness as setting yourself free from bitterness, Seju. It doesn't always mean forgetting or going back to how things were. You can forgive, but also protect yourself from getting hurt again. It's about finding a balance between kindness and self-protection."
Sejal: "I see... but it's hard."
Dad: "Of course, it is. Take your time. Trust your instincts, and it'll become clearer as time goes by. Just remember, forgiveness is liberating, whether it mends old bridges or helps you build new ones."
Sejal, comforted by her father's profound advice, felt a glimmer of understanding amidst her confusion. His words gave her a perspective that felt both reassuring and enlightening. She knew she had a path to navigate, albeit slowly and thoughtfully. Sejal was surprised by how easily her father simplified the issue. After spending cherished moments with her family, she decided to call Rishabh.
Rishabh: "Hey beautiful! I'm already on my way to get you."
Sejal blushed, her cheeks turning rosy.
Sejal: "Okay, see you soon."
