The funny thing about betrayal, is that it never came from the enemies in war, rather those closest to ones being.
Perseus didn't consider himself loyal.
Loyalty was blind, it would take betrayal and assume it was for the greater good, it wouldn't bat an eye at the murder of innocents, never hesitate once given an order. If a Loyal man was told he was to give his life for a cause, he would do so without hesitation - Perseus would. Where it differed was if a Loyal Man was told to hunt down his own friends and comrades, sacrifice their lives for their pleasure, they would do so without hesitancy.Perseus could not be loyal, if loyal meant to act blindly, to turn upon itself and rip itself apart.
Loyalty would be what got him killed, but Percy had avoided death, had escaped before those he trusted killed him.

Perhaps Loyalty was accurate as his fatal flaw. Percy died that day. Perseus took his place.
The breaking of loyalty destroyed who he once was, gave birth to an apathetic version of him. Perseus knew he should care, but he could not bring himself to.
Percy was dead. No one would mourn him.
Percy was weak. Perseus wouldn't allow anyone to get close enough to hurt him ever again.
Perseus was permanent, and the change, was tangible.
