Context: At 39 years old, Perseus Jackson had three children, his eldest were twins, 20 year old Theseus Andromenus and Daedalus Icarus. His youngest was 19 year old Espher Morana.

Although Legacies, the three did possess surprisingly strong abilities, such that they could even be mistaken for full blooded demigods.

Theseus inherited everything from his mother, bar his eyes, which matched Percy's. Daedalus was much the same, except he also inherited the ability to manipulate water.

Espher... Everyone assumed she was powerless; that she had inherited the mortal part of both her parents. She had no scent, she wasn't in danger from the monsters, Hades, they weren't even sure that she could see through the mist.

But then she turned eighteen.
And everything, quite literally, about her changed.

====

There were few things in this life that the youngest Jackson hated. The first, was her birth name, she much preferred to go by Espher, it being shorter, nicer and all around better than Espheranza.

Perseus and Annabeth Jackson were by no means abusive, however they could be considered neglectful when it came to the youngest of their children.

Her entire life, Theseus and Daedalus had been in the spotlight, praised and applauded for everything they did, taken away to a special camp in the summer, they didn't even have to attend school! Her Mom and Dad spent most of their time with the two, so more often than not she was left to fend for herself in the care of Aunt Estelle or Grandma Sally - she didn't see much of them and she was fine with that, it was less painful that way.

They knew nothing about her and her nothing about them.

Sure, her brothers did their best to make her feel involved and loved, but they were always getting into trouble and getting dragged off somewhere. But when she got in trouble, she was shouted at and given disappointed looks by both of their parents, receiving the common, "We raised you better than this!" They were practically pat on the back when they blew up a school!

Espher wasn't oblivious, she knew that something was going on that she was being kept out of. Her brothers returned some summer's with cuts on their faces and agonized eyes, it made her feel queasy no matter how much they tried to hide it. Also there was the, well, you know, SWORDS AND DAGGERS EVERYWHERE!

Honestly, Espher thought she was going mad, seeing one of her brothers twirling a dagger around in hand but no one else reacting to it. She drew the line, not at the spontaneous street ally murder she saw, but at her dad's favourite pen turning into a fucking lethal weapon.

The third thing Espher hated most in this life; being lied to or having secrets kept from.

Not that they were good at it; Theseus should know better to keep a diary detailing his time at 'Camp LooneyTunes' lying around his room in the open.

Regardless.

The intent was there and Espher was pissed.

She was a half-half blood, she wasn't nuts at all! They had been lying to her for years, so naturally she did the only thing she could think of when they left her again.

She confronted her grandma.

....

Espheranza Morana Jackson had always known pain, she'd known it since the day her brothers' turned eleven and they got her and themselves kicked out of school, displacing her from all her friends only to have their parents coddle them and say they did nothing wrong.

Espher Morana Jackson knew disappointment the day she turned ten and Mom and Dad didn't come home to celebrate her birthday.

Espher Morana knew wrath the day her mother slapped her, before recoiling in shock. No amount of apologies made that pain fade, and the way her father didn't step in only cemented the fact she was different.

Espher knew the value of omission when she started to take note of all the loopholes in her parents explanations. She started to do so herself when she needed.

...

All paled in comparison to the day Espher truly understood the meaning of Godly Blood. The day Grandma Sally was murdered, their apartment set ablaze and she walked untouched out of the fires.

No one came for her. Her parents knew, undoubtedly, it had been all over the news, fuck, even Uncle Leo had stopped by to give her his condolences, however briefly, a haunted look on his own face. But no one came for her.

She was alone.

Abandoned.
