Watching my dad walk away from us has motivated me to strive for excellence. But now, I want to be more than just excellent. The adrenaline coursing through my veins makes me feel free, invincible, and happy. I can see why my mom loves this sport too.

I turn on my radio, and before I pull out of the parking lot, Romeo's words echo in my head.

"Watch your way."

I glance both ways and reverse cautiously. The sound of a dying engine catches my attention. I peer from my rearview mirror and see Romeo on his motorcycle, slamming his fist against it twice.

He tries again, and when it seems like it will start, it dies.

"Stupid thing," he mumbles angrily. He removes his helmet, and his eyes meet mine in the mirror. Chills run over my body, causing me to shiver.

I take a deep breath before reversing to where he's parked.

"Lena," he nods seriously. I don't know what to expect, but seeing him look at me with such a cold expression makes me want to hide. I should have ignored him.

Stupid conscience. Ugh!

"Romeo."

Instead of saying something else, neither of us speak. We just look at each other like a pair of fools.

I clear my throat before I smile. "So, your motorcycle won't start?"

"It seems so," he sets his helmet on the handle of his cycle.

His swollen lip looks a little better, and although I'm tempted to ask, I don't.

"I feel sorry for you," I add mischievously.

"I feel that way too," he confesses, and I feel bad for him all over again.

I can relate, I voice in my head.

"So, is someone coming for you?" I ask again.

I honestly don't know why I'm asking so many questions. I wish I could take him, but I'm afraid of all the things he could do to me. Emotionally. Seeing myself turn all kinds of beasts for him, I know I'm supposed to stay as far away as possible.

He shrugs like a cute boy as he looks around the parking lot. I follow his gaze and notice that there's just a car, a bicycle, and a Volvo that's already leaving.

A loud thunder roars in the sky, and I laugh.

"See ya, Romeo," I say and drive away.

Seeing him shake his head and give that smile I adore so much, from my mirror, makes me join him in laughter. He's so adorable. Too bad we're very alike and in the same reputation, we can't be together. We don't belong in the same world.
