Look, Prince Charming

He hurries to hand me one, which I drink like Julissa, and then I ask for another.

"Let's give my dear boyfriend a surprise," I say, smiling as I wipe the alcohol from the side of my lips with the back of my hand.

Kendrick hoots, and I start dancing as I climb onto another table near him.

"Give me two more," I tell him.

I gulp down the liquid like water. As soon as it enters my systems it turns holy.

I clear my throat. "Boys and girls!"

I detest when people dictate my actions, especially Romeo. He should understand the kind of person I am. We share many similarities. He should know me.

"Today, I have something for you." Gradually, people start to gather around as the music volume decreases slightly.

"Julie, join me up here, my girl." She laughs but complies, not without removing her shoes first.

"Secure the table," I shout, and a couple of boys scramble to stabilize it.

"DJ, play something sensual."

The crowd erupts in excitement. I can feel my blood pulsing through my veins. It's warm. I shed my light jacket and begin to dance with Julie as the music reverberates through the speakers.

This song is my favorite.

The room seems to sway, but I mask my concern with a grin. I don't usually get intoxicated this quickly. Did Kendrick slip something into my drink? I am going to murder him.

Julie and I begin to move with the music. The atmosphere is so charged and intense that I can sense the excitement around us. We sway, grind, and touch, our movements imitating a lap dance. I think I feel a rush of desire. The crowd erupts in cheers when we finish, and my world seems to vibrate. Dizziness washes over me, and I see double images of Julie.

"It was so hot," she laughs as we attempt to descend.

I scan the crowd, searching for Romeo. A wave of fear washes over me. For some reason, I believe he will protect me. I've never felt like this from drinking, not even after four drinks in a row.

The crowd begins to disperse, satisfied smiles on their faces. I should be laughing too, but instead, I feel like I'm losing control. Julie giggles as we stand on the floor.

"Did you spike my drink, Kendrick?" I accuse.

"What are you talking about?"

"The drink. It was spiked! Ugh! Whatever." Kendrick looks at me as if I've sprouted two heads.

I decide to go home. To hell with Romeo.

"Julie, let's go."

She whines, "But we just got here."

"I don't feel well."

"What the hell was that?" I hear Romeo's voice from behind me.
