They lied, it hadn't been painless at all.

Kentaro had taken us back to the venue afterwards to drop Casey off at his car and driven us home. I fell asleep on the way and woke up this morning with a throbbing in my head.

Grumbling, I throw my blankets off and stomp into the bathroom. After a quick shower, I glare at my toothbrush. There was no way I was going to irritate my face even more by brushing my teeth. I put a glob of toothpaste on my finger and gently scrub it around my mouth.

Better than nothing.

I throw on some clothes and a hoodie before going to the kitchen. Kentaro's bedroom door was cracked and I could hear his shower running, so I start a pot of water to boil on the stove. Rummaging around the pantry, I grab two Asian sweet potatoes and turn on the air fryer.

I think a simple breakfast of sweet potatoes, boiled eggs and avocado cubes sounded good.

I pop the potatoes into the air fryer and grab the avocado from the fridge and see Kentaro staring at me from the doorway, towel wrapped around his shoulders. I jump, dropping and bruising the avocado.

"Jeez, you scared me, Sir." I put my hand to my chest to calm my racing heart and pick up the poor fruit.

He takes it from my hand and sets it on the counter before pulling me into a hug. I snuggle into him and sigh, happy he's comfortable being more affectionate now.

"You're supposed to be resting, baby." He scolds softly.

I pull back a little and tilt my head back. "I know."

"Then why're you up?" He touches our noses, kissing my cheek.

"Because I wanted to make breakfast for you," I pout, cheeks warming. "Wanted to make breakfast for my Daddy."

His whole demeanor changed and he squeezed me tighter, one of his hands coming up to cradle my head as he pressed kisses to my face. I hold onto the front of his shirt and pull him into an actual kiss. His hand slides down to grip the back of my neck firmly as he puts more heat into the kiss.

I felt my blood rush to my lower half, then jerked away when I felt a sharp pain in my cheek. His eyes go wide and he cups my face in his hands.

"I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean to hurt you."

I wave him off, putting my hand over the gauze. "It wasn't your fault, I just pushed it."

"Go sit down, I'll finish breakfast and then you'll be taking pain meds." He orders, his voice dropping. I shiver at the dominance and obey, walking over to kneel next to his normal seat. "Casey will be coming to watch over you, I have to go to an important meeting. I tried to get out of it but they threatened to throw out the deal altogether."

I didn't respond, and watched him make the rest of breakfast. He grabbed another potato and tossed them all into the air fryer. He got everything cooking and I heard the doorbell.

"He's a bit early, but go ahead and answer baby."

"Yes, Daddy."

I don't miss the small smile he tried to hide as I left. The door swung shut behind me and the doorbell rang again. I mock the bell as I unlock the door, putting on a smile to greet Casey.

"Hello, is Mr. Morikawa home?" An officer greets me instead, glancing at the gauze and peers past me. "I need to speak with him. "

"Yes, Sir."

I close the door and dash back to the kitchen. He was plating the potatoes and dropping the eggs in the pot when I barged in. He looks up and sees my wide-eyed look, putting his spoon down.
