MABEL ESTHERWe decided to stay the night at the safe house to make sure the family was comfortable and understood the seriousness of the situation. Yda and I slept on the couch while the family took the rooms, we were all tucked.
About halfway through the night, I got a radio call from Beta Prescott. He was frustrated over some business with the border on the Yukon side of the Rouge territory. Some juvenile rogues thought it would be a good idea to cross the border through mutual territory, but a North wolf found the scent and is now holding them hostage.
As they were not a part of the pack, we can't do much too much for them. Yda and I left for Yukon as soon as we got the full detailed information, but we won't get there until noon. It turns out the juveniles were intoxicated too, so that will be fun to witness when we arrive.
The border of Yukon and Alaska are the most insufferable territories to work around, us the rogues and the North want it. We have been battling this for years as you already know.
"Can anything ever go smoothly for us?"
I sigh, "at least we have one thing taken care of for now."
My phone rings, "can you answer that for me?" Yda puts it on speaker.
"Hey, I just spoke with the North Kingdom pack's gamma and he told me that they are being held inside of the border lines. You have to stop in the mutual territory at a safe house before you can meet with anyone." Prescott tells us, "the gamma was not happy with us coming down, but since they are juveniles it seemed at least mandatory."
"Do you know anything about the border from Yukon to Alaska?"
He mumbles to himself before answering. "The issue happened between Yukon North and our territory." Damn it.
"They won't let that up, will they?"
"Probably not, but we can make a treaty alliance partially for the mutual land on our side." I can hear him crumble through some files in my office, "Since they were at the safe house, then mutual land, we can sign the alliance form and give it to them."
I don't want an alliance form. They never go through and the North always wants land instead of bodies. Either they will want the land they came from or the juveniles themselves.
The teens can abide by what they want, they are rogues after all. However, that means we have fewer bodies, so we need to claim them as ours before they do something even more stupid.
"Let's just talk to them first and see what we can do." I hang up the call and focus on driving even faster.
Speeding through the lanes of traffic, I can sense the change of authority in the air. My energy is being threatened, we are getting closer to the border of North West and Yukon. Once we reach Yukon, I will have less authority, but I can stay in my territory and have authority.
"The safe house is coming up in twenty minutes." gamma logs off of her phone and gets her stuff ready, "do you think we will just be meeting with the gamma?"
I nod. "The Alpha is an asshole, I met him a few times." He called me a princess she-wolf when I was looking after a young pup while his mother was being punished for stealing on his side of the border on the mutual land.
He seems to have an odd perspective on mutual land, the more bodies on the land make it seem like he owns it. That just means he is breaking the treaty, but we'll get into that later as we write a file up for the future.
"Turn here." The truck is pulled into a short driveway near the house. I feel the air stir with anticipation as we get out of the truck. My phone rings again.
