MABEL ESTHER

Sometimes I have to reflect on why I am doing this. The heartbreak and the constant reminder that I am a she-wolf plague me all over again each time I do this routine. I wake up, eat, drink, and do what I need to keep moving for the day. I hear the birds, the squirrels, and the rogue wolves in the bumping day as we continue with progress.

Last night, I felt the cramps and sweat pool inside of me. There is only a minimal amount of time before I must be isolated from the rest of the wolves around here. I need to move North and into the caves away from everyone else. Since I am in Nanuvat, there is a chance I can get away to the North Pole without drawing any wolves near me.

As the time nears for me to battle out my insecurities with my mate, we are at fault The opposite effect is happening and I won't have a clue as to what is going on without damaging myself more than I already have. We raided towns, bases, and packs along the border with some inland territories. Most of the pack wolves fought hard and dirty, it was brilliant to see. The casualties were in the hundreds by the end, the ones who escaped left for the main bases. We attacked them and the majority of the attacks. My brain tells me they ran to the Alpha, he should know that we have the maps and codes by now.

The rocks below me held me down when the wave of cramps hit me solid. Crumbling gravel bounces its way down from the top of the ridge above me. The sun sets under the stars and I feel the pull to lie down and rest. Just a bit further.

Blood drips from my nose as I try to clean myself off in the springs near the North section of Nunavut. The water is cool to my feverish skin when I dunk myself fully into the water. My scent will fade for a while afterwards which is a plus to the find. The skin around my chest and legs is hot and sweaty no matter where I am. The summer months are here, June will be here tomorrow and I am sure there is heat everywhere around here.

On my way here, I smelt a she-wolf in heat. She was held up in a cave around the border to the North, I quickly moved on just in case there was a male around. I don't have the time nor the strength to defend a she-wolf. The wolf seemed to be in her late twenties, my age, so it wasn't her first time doing this. She and I had the same idea, to run as far as we could.

As the sun is heated up to the middle of the sky, I follow the wind pattern to benign me further up. I am almost across to the glaciers and I will follow that trail until I can no longer move. My wolf wants to stop and wait for our mate, we know he is coming for us. There is no way he can't sense us and our desire.

With myself feeling famished, I get out of the water to look for food. This might be the last time I eat something until my heat is over, I will need as much strength and health to survive this since I am mated without my mate. A white hare is spotted by my wolf, we shift for the moment. I have control over her just enough to catch up with the animal and kill it. Before she could run off, I shifted back. She wines in my head and pounds at my skull."Shut up." I mutter to her. Without cooking or skinning it, I eat it up without any trouble before I find a place to lie down for when the night comes.

The bond is pulling as much as it can from me, the burning of my skin hints that I am almost over the edge. Last night, I shifted painfully until I was granted a wish to rest. My bones were broken, and my ribs didn't shift back as they were supposed to. I am stuck hunched awkwardly until I shift again to realign them correctly.

I have walked and crawled as much as I could through the snow and ice up the mountains. My feet, hands, and knees have become numb with raw flesh leaving behind red marks in my path. It is risky to leave it all behind, but there is still hope that Ryden won't make it in time. My wolf is feeling less ansty which is alarming in my opinion, it means our mate is getting closer. Would he really come all of this way for us? A mate in heat is a mate in heat. Other wolves are mating further South, he could have taken anyone from there. However, he chose me.
