MABEL ESTHER

However, I stay where I am to let him soak in his glory.

The fight between us won't stand where either of us wants it to and there is a chance that we will kill each other. I know when to pick my fights and right now it is not it. He tosses me to the side carelessly as his hypocrisy shows, his wolf charges toward the open ridge and he runs away to the river for supplies.

I am left to my vices as the cramps and sweat keep coming slowly, my hands hold my stomach as the cramps settle in. Sniffing the air, I can smell my blood dripping out of me. It isn't a lot, but it could attract unwanted wolves.

Closing my legs, I lay on my side with my back to the wall of the cave. Even though it is below zero, my fever keeps spiking up. It should be about two hours until he returns if everything goes to his plan, but I have a feeling that I will be here suffering without him.

Another cramp pulses through me and my legs spasm. My right leg shoots out in front of me and it snaps to the side dislocating my knee, I feel the burning rocking my joints. My wolf wants me to shift, so she can run around to let out all of the built-up energy, but I keep her locked in.

She could easily find out potential mate or even find another... if she finds another, she will kill it without a second thought. Hearing her growl at me in my head, I close my eyes and try to think of something to keep my mind occupied.

Fever chills roll over me from where I am lying, I need to be in the snow. The snow will help keep me cool until I can bear to move. Crawling with my eyes closed, I feel around for the edge of the cave. Once I find it, I slowly drag myself into the snow below me.

I instantly feel relief in my bones, the ice and water balance out the heat coming forward. My right leg pulls itself back together and I lay on my stomach for as long as ai can take. With being able to acclimate to temperature, it will only be a temporary solution as anything will be.

Blood trickles down my folds and onto the snow, I can feel it pushing out of me. The cold weather will freeze it over time, but the scent will still be there. I know Ryden will smell it as he comes back, but there are wolves out there who will smell it now.

For a moment or two, I seep the snow into my mouth for cool comfort. One comfort that chills my insides for a few seconds and the fever comes back. My mind tuned in on eating the snow, swallowing the snow, and resting on the now-on repeat for about twenty minutes before I acclimated to my surroundings.

My head turns to the side and I see a blur of brown in the distance, it moves fairly quickly. I can't pick up on a scent because of the relaxed state my body is under, I use my strength to turn onto my back.

I have an audience... Two or three wolves in the near distance by the tree line past the ridge. They are stationary as I can feel another set of eyes on me from behind the cave, they are watching me from above in wolf form.

This is another reason I wanted to go with him.

As much as it is to entertain them one by one killing them slowly to watch them beg for my wolf to stop, I need to kill them quickly as there are multiple here. If one fails, the next will follow.

A rogue pack of male wolves is never ideal for any wolf let alone a wolf in heat. By now, if Ryden is the Alpha he says he is, he would have sensed them and would be on his way back.

There isn't time to wait for him, I must kill them now.

"Do you think it's funny to watch me lay here in agony?" I tempt the wolves.
