When Evette stirred awake her head ached terribly, and her body felt rather stiff. As her eyes fluttered open, she found that she was on the floor. Evette sat up slowly and found herself to be in some sort of cage that was stationed outside - and then she saw that Romulus was in another one right beside her own, staring as she awoke.
And then she saw that Romulus' cloak was set over her comfortably - and she supposed that was why she hadn't been so cold after being outside.
"So, urm, what exactly is going on?" Evette asked the man in confusion.
"We landed in Criatenia." Romulus informed her, making her look over at him slowly. Criatenia was one of the cities in the Faerie Lands - it was directly opposite Montesere. They disliked the Fey deeply as they were a very well known ally of Hybern. She supposed that was why they were in iron cages.
"Fuck." Evette muttered softly before she moved to run her hands through her hair, and winced when her hand grazed her forehead.
"They knocked you out with an iron baton." He informed her, before he gestured to his cloak. "So, did my cloak keep you warm?" He asked her.
"It did." Evette informed him. "Do you want it back?"
"Keep it." He waved it off lazily as he sat on the ground so he was at her level. "I can manipulate and control fire...I don't get cold as easily as you." Evette was thankful for this, and moved to actually pull the cloak itself on, and pulled it around her tighter since it was still cold even with the cloak.
Romulus watched her do so in amusement. "I didn't know you were so eager to be snuggled up in something that belongs to me." He mused. "When we leave here...you are free to snuggle up into me for as long as you want."
"Don't be an ass!" Evette grumbled at him. "And on the note of getting out of here...how exactly are we getting out of here? These are iron cages...I don't fancy burning myself on them to attempt escape. Not that you'd know, but iron really does hurt."
"Do you wish for an apology for what happened at Hybern?" He asked her with a scoff. "Because you deserved that! You deserved every second of what happened to you that day." Evette turned to look around at him, shaking her head at him softly. She didn't have the desire to argue right now though.
"And those Fae...I do wonder how you've gotten them to care about you so much. Especially the one eyed one - the one with the metal eye." Romulus sneered. "He ruined my celebrations when he was shaking your dead body. As if he cared for you, and as if you were important to him. So ridiculous!"
"He does care for me, and I am important to him." Evette replied. "And I care for him."
He scoffed again. "He's ridiculous!"
"Leave Lucien out of our disagreements." Evette snapped at the man sharply. "Leave him out of your hatred for me."
The both of them sat in silence for a while, and Evette pulled her knees up into her chest, and lay her head on top of her knees, as she wrapped her arms around her legs. And she stared out of her cage as she remained in her thoughts as to what exactly she was going to do to escape. And Romulus, he looked from their surroundings, to Evette, and then back.
Finally, a man approached their cages, and the both of them stood, and watched him. The man was clearly Fae, that much was obvious. A lesser Fae, she noted. "The punishment for the Fey for trespassing in Criatenia is 100 lashes. You may choose who receives them." He told them.
Evette felt that 100 lashes was rather dramatic, and a little barbaric. And way too much.
"I'll take the lashes." Romulus announced.
