The panda museum is interesting despite the exhibits' creepy taxidermy. Patchy furred animals glare with unnatural eyes.
I learn pandas used to be carnivores. Now, they're my vegetarian allies. They need to eat lots of bamboo because of their short digestive tract. They can't absorb all the plants' nutrients.
Seeing how old the panda is makes me wonder if extinction is less a tragedy than an inevitability. They're hardy beasts to outlive mammoths and mass extinctions. Their territory is small today, comprised of Southern China. The research center has yet to successfully release one into the wild. Breeding goes well.
