It was the day of Pat's sentencing, and Jay was Jumpy.
"Would you relax?" Erin asked.
Jay shook his head, and continued pacing.
"Barba...." Adam pointed out.
Jay rushed over, and spoke.
"Do you know what's going on?" Jay asked.
Barba sighed, and responded.
"Pat's due for sentencing, he's looking at more years, and we haven't got enough evidence to free him, but the Judge may take into account his medical issues." Barba explained.
Jay sighed, and leant against the wall.
"We're due in." Hank replied.
Everyone walked into the courtroom. Sitting at their allocated seats.
Pat walked into the courtroom. And Jay saw how skinny he looked.
"God!" Jay gasped.
Erin rubbed Jay's back, and provided comfort.
"Patrick Halstead. You are guilty of murdering Daniel Charles. I've heard that you have medical issues, which I've taken into account. So, I'm lowering the sentence." Judge Anderson replied.
Pat nodded, and stayed silent.
"Therefore. Your going to be serving 14 Months in Cook County." Judge Anderson explained.
Before anyone could speak. Jay stood up.
"NO! HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!" Jay shouted.
Judge Anderson looked at Jay, and banged her gravel.
"ORDER! ORDER! QUIET IN THE COURTROOM!" Judge Anderson ordered.
Jay kept shouting, and Judge Anderson spoke.
"Quiet! Or I'll hold you in contempt." Judge Anderson threatened.
Before anyone knew it. Pat pushed the guards, and rushed out.
"DAD!" Jay yelled.
Jay ran out of the doors, and tried chasing Pat.
"No! No!" Jay shook his head.
Pat grabbed Jay's hand, and pulled him into the car.
The car drove off, and the unit all noticed.
"That's Jay!" Adam pointed out.
Erin tried calling Jay, but noticed his phone.
"He dumped his phone..." Erin sighed.
Hank gathered his unit, and they all got into their vehicles.
As Pat drove. Jay tried speaking to him.
"Dad. You can't go on the run. Trust me. I've been there. Your a good person, you can't do this..." Jay explained.
Pat took a sharp turn, and parked into an abandoned building.
Adam and Kim were in tow, and radioed the team.
"Guys, I lost eyes on Pat. He was last seen heading towards Berkeley, we're gonna try and take another route." Adam explained.
"Copy that! We're on route." Antonio radioed.
After Awhile. Jay was being held hostage in the building, and he was held at gunpoint.
"Dad. My team will be here any minute. You have no choice but to hand yourself in." Jay spoke up.
Pat looked through the windows, and noticed the unit.
"Their here!" Pat whispered.
Jay kneed Pat in the groin, and rushed out.
"I'm okay! I'm unharmed!" Jay held his hands up.
When Jay noticed the guns, he yelled.
"GUNS DOWN! PUT ALL YOUR GUNS DOWN!" Jay ordered.
The unit all thought Jay was crazy, but they did it anyway.
"Jay! Get over here!" Erin ordered.
Jay shook his head, and rushed back inside.
"NO!" Erin yelled.
The door slammed, and Jay looked at Pat.
"Dad! Truth time. You don't have a lot of options. The better way to do this. Is hand yourself in." Jay rushed out.
Pat got antsy, as he paced the room.
"Then I'll go back to prison. Is that what you want? You want your dad to go back to Jail?" Pat asked.
Jay groaned, and tried grabbing the gun.
When Pat noticed. He shot Jay in the stomach.
Jay stopped wrestling, and got pushed into the wall.
After a minute. Jay got up, and walked to the door.
Jay opened the door, and held his stomach.
"Jay!" Erin exclaimed.
Hank rushed over, and caught Jay.
"I got you, buddy, I got you." Hank whispered.
Hank and Jay fell to the floor, and Jay panted.
"Try and breathe. Jay, We got you." Brett reassured.
Brett put the oxygen mask over Jay's nose and mouth.
"The bullet's through and through. He's gonna be fine." Brett comforted.
Hank nodded, and helped Jay breathe.
"Breathe, buddy, breathe." Hank soothed.
Soon. The Medic's were wheeling Pat into Med.
"Can I go with him?" Jay asked.
Connor shook his head, and spoke.
"I'm sorry, we'll look after him, I promise." Connor promised.
Anna walked up to Jay, and spoke.
"Mr Halstead. We need to get you checked out..." Anna responded.
"It's Detective. And I'm fine." Jay whispered.
Erin waked over, and felt Jay's head.
"Your burning up, let the nurse take a look at you, your in bloody clothes as well." Erin explained.
Jay walked with Monique, and into the room.
"I'll go see what I can find out." Antonio suggested.
The unit nodded, and sat down on the chairs.
After 25 Minutes. Jay was in some clean sweats. Sitting on the bed.
"The Nurse did say, you can lie down?" Erin reminded.
Jay sniffled, and spoke.
"I don't wanna lie down, and have a nap. I wanna know how my dad is!" Jay exclaimed.
Erin sat next to Jay, and rubbed his back.
"Well. Antonio asked about Pat. And he died on the table. Jay." Erin broke it down gently.
Jay broke into sobs, and lied on the bed.
"It's gonna be okay, baby, your gonna be okay." Erin soothed.
Jay closed his eyes, and fell asleep to Erin's hands massaging his back.
