Betrayal

In the morning, I awoke to the sound of branches snapping and leaves rustling. I squinted in the bright, outdoor sunlight, and saw Henry using telekinesis to build a shelter. For a moment, still half asleep, I watched on, in a daze, but then I scrambled to my knees. "Henry, stop it—those people might see!" I hissed.

"If they do, I'll just kill them." he shouted over at me across the beach.

"Shh!" I hissed again.

"What's the problem, what could they do?"

I stood up now, and began walking to him. "Well...I don't know, I thought you liked them?"

Henry stopped using his powers for a moment and looked at me, confused. "What do you mean?"

"Never mind."

Henry smiled and grasped my shoulders. "Just tell me."

"You seemed like you liked those people last night. I mean...you let them go. I would've thought you'd have killed them straight away."

"Twelve, I was drunk."

"Why haven't you killed them this morning then?"

"How do you know I haven't?" he asked with a smirk.

"I think you would've told me."

"The reason I haven't killed them yet is because there's no point in me traipsing round the whole island trying to find them. We'll probably see them later, so I'll do it then."

"Okay."

"It's not that you want them to live, is it?"

"No, I don't care...I just thought you did."

"Because if you did..." Henry said, letting one of his hands slide down my body, "...I could let them live for a little while longer."

I paused for a moment, letting the feeling of his hand sink into my body. He was so much more attractive now that he looked fully human again. "...Really?" I breathed.

Henry's hand on my waist suddenly pulled me into him, inches from his face. "I knew you wanted them to survive," he said quietly, staring into my eyes and down at my lips.

"I'm sorry, Henry, but I don't enjoy seeing people die like you do," I whispered, feeling nervous but turned on.

"But do you like seeing me kill them?" he asked, pulling me closer into him so that my chest, covered only by a thin white crop top, could feel the warmth of his bare chest, and I could feel his hard member down below.

"No, I don't," I said, struggling to talk.

"Don't lie to me," he said, shoving myself into him. I heard him breathe out like a moan as he did so.

"I'm not," I lied.

"You know you like how powerful it makes me look to you," he mumbled, lifting my chin so that my mouth neared his.

"No," I moaned as I felt his whole body on me, felt his movements as he breathed in and out.

"Really?" he said, pulling my hair back so that my head faced up to him.

"...No," I admitted.

All of a sudden, I heard a gasp. "Let her go!" cried a man's voice.

I turned quickly to see Ron climbing down the dunes onto the beach, with Sally following suit. Henry rolled his eyes and turned slowly, expressionless.

"Why would I do what you say?" said Henry mockingly, smiling a little.

"Be-because we're the last ones left! You need us!" cried the man.

"What do you even mean?" asked Henry.

"You can't get on our bad side, or argue with us, because you need us to continue the human race!"

"No we don't," laughed Henry.

"How? Your kids will be incestuous!" said the woman.

"We're not continuing the human race," Henry lied.

"Why?" asked the man.

"Because," said Henry, letting go of me and walking over to the couple. "...we are the ones who ended it."

The couple glanced at one another, confusion and fear striking their faces. "That's not something you should joke about," the woman said.

"That's why I'm not joking," said Henry with a smile.

The couple began to back away slowly, and when Henry advanced further, they tried to scramble up the dunes, grasping at whatever grass they could to help them get off the beach.

Henry stopped walking, and stood. "Why are you running?" Henry shouted over mockingly. "Don't you think that a man who wiped out almost the entire planet would be able to stop someone from simply running away?"

They didn't listen to him, and continued scrambling away, running towards the forest. Henry sighed and reached his hand out, effortlessly turning it to the side, using telekinesis to send the couple crashing to the floor, falling back down through the dunes and onto the beach.

"Henry..." I pleaded hopelessly, tugging lightly on his arm. I knew he wouldn't listen.

He flung them towards us using his mind, and I ducked out of the way, afraid of them landing into me.

Henry shook his head. "Don't you trust my aim, Twelve?"

The couple yelled out, injured, trying to stand up, but being unable to.

"There's no point," said Henry. "I'll only pull you back."

"I knew their story was sus!" shouted the man.

The woman cried. "This isn't the time. We're about to die!"

"You're right. I love you, Sally," whimpered the man.

"Ron, I love you."

"Not too hasty!" said Henry, standing over them. "There's a lot of suffering to go yet."

"No!" pleaded woman. "Why? What's the point in torturing us? What have we done?"

"You underestimated me," said Henry. "You really thought that the man who destroyed humanity would let two people as ordinary as you slip through the cracks? Did you really think you were that special? I'm the one who's special, and I've lived the majority of my life suffering for it, suffering for not fitting into the society you all upheld. So now it's your turn."

"No!" yelled the man. "We didn't think you'd forget us! We've been living in fear, expecting each day to end up being our last!"

"Well, then this shouldn't be too shocking for you," Henry said as ripped the man's guts out of his stomach using his mind.
