One fateful day, I ended up in the basement because I needed to fix and restore some of the electrical equipment. Like add a new fuse for the appliances. Yes, ships do have basements not like the ones in normal homes though. They're mainly located in the very rear of the ship and since this is Blacklite we're talking about, they use said basements for horrific experiments. How do I know? Because I was on board on one of these ships before; after the destruction of Terra, I fled and went to Earth. Which was our neighbouring planet but when I got there, I was captured by one of them. I was about to get my element stripped off me via a fatal experiment.
They luckily didn't get to do anything to me because I came there prepared. Mentally.
I massacred them all in there and I even stole valuable intel. The best part? It all happened in one of these ships (the reason why I needed to ask for a small tour is because this is a different model ship with different software. The ones on Earth have basements but not many appliances).
I then came across the server store...
Many small shelfs with an absurd amount of wires all jumbled up together. It was like a messy swarm of worms all writhing around. I walked past said servers more and saw that their motherboards looked rather makeshift. Like they had built up mold and grease. Not to mention there was no case for them so any water spillage here would end this all.
Luckily for me, I had a solution. Oh, I was also disgusted. "These guys are great and all but what the hell kinda twenty nineteen server set up is this?! Its like the kinda server I made in seventh grade-" I murmured to myself. So I went up to one of the servers in front of me, with the intention of remastering it. Well when I say 'remaster' I don't mean I'd change just a few things. I was going to completely overhaul this place within just a few weeks and I knew just what to do as soon as I saw this place. I looked around and saw a toolbox in the corner so I went there to take it. Luckily, it had all the tools I needed to make a massive server. I needed to first give all of the servers a casing so I rummaged through the storage room near the cockpit.
There, I saw a pile of pc cases. They all had this smooth, shade of ebony all over and a shining light made from crimson. So I took all of them back to the server room and began to modify each one and place them all in the pc cases. Until, I'd eventually made rows, upon rows of red lights all around. I then needed to update the software and the database; alongside the memory storage capacity. Luckily, I had enough RAM modules to cover at least half of the entire room. So when I was done, I'd noticed a great boost in connection speeds across websites.
"Finally, signals way better" I muttered to myself while I reveled in the snappy processing speeds I just made.
"The hell?! You did all this in under thirty minutes?!" I heard Ako shout out to me.
"Uh...yeah? It's pretty simple to set up y'know" I replied with a low, awkward voice. I probably looked increasingly stupid as I sat on the floor with my phone in my hand. "I was saying- 'what the hell might that change in processing be?' Well now that I know, I'm impressed" He advised with his speech cracking into laughter at some parts. I returned a small smile, a genuine smile unlike how I'd usually smile. It was... rigid and forced, like a lock on a door that refused to move. The appreciation actually made me smile too.
"Thanks man. I'm...I'm just smart. If anything here needs fixing in terms of hardware or software then tell me and I'll help" I advised him. "Alright but you're gonna be needed often because I have no idea how to operate some of this stuff man-" He laughed back.
A few moments later, after a cyrosleep that lasted around seven days, I woke up to the ship passing a sparkling supernova. It was like a distant fever dream come to life as I walked by the ship, the windows filled with the immense glow of the cosmos. I went to the cockpit and on my way I'd keep seeing purple, azure and golden mixes of pure awe and wonder until I reached the cockpit. My jaw had dropped.
There was nothing but these aura, golden and violet sparks of light, accompanying me as the ship ventured into the endless, pitiless void of space. I would then have myself startled by a tap on the shoulder, I quickly jolt around and see...
Ako.
"Beautiful isn't it? You only get to see these kinds of things once every forty years" He stated simply while also being stood beside me, watching the endless show. "Where are we even going now?"
"We do have an actual location this time. We need to aquire a few weapons out here and some samples for experiments" That was interesting. "Like what?" I'd state more blatantly now. "On a few items, not people you little skeptic-" He laughed off casually. I let out a small but unnoticeable sigh of relief to this, I don't want these guys to be traitors or something. Especially since I needed to keep in mind that I was on a Blacklite ship; some of these ships also hold some hidden rooms and I hadn't found the one on the ship I was on at that time. Anyway, on with me questioning him about those weapons.
"What about...those weapons? Like do they have any enchantments? Why do you need to collect them when a normal person just buys them?" I inquired once more. "Oh, these swords and guns ain't your regular things NextGen, these are weapons owned by people who're using their immense power for evil. So we need to do everything we can to take em back" He stated to me.
I nodded back in reluctant approval; if I wanted to get any stronger, I'd need to have another fight anyway...
Hopefully though, none of them know about my feline identity.
