"Alright NextGen, do you have all your equipment on you?" I heard Ako ask as we were about to leave, I pulled my mask up which would cover only my mouth. "No. I got everything I needed" I stated blatantly to him in return.
So then we settled, apparently the planet we were about to land on was called Dexon, a planet with insane amounts of history but apparently it became a war torn place. At least half of it from what I can recall but when we landed, it did indeed look barren.
A watseland; beneath my feet would be rubble, gravel and blood. Bones, dried dead bodies and an endless flat land full of dead and hollow corpses mixed with tainted land. On top of that rested what used to be many, many buildings of old. Things that looked like they came from a child's book of myths; many old traditional, medieval buildings would surround us. Like a fairytale from feudal Japan. "This place looks kinda cool" I commented.
"Yeah? Sure it does pal, I'd need to stomach all them dead bodies here to even begin to have a liking!" Ako exclaimed in a rather pissed off manner. I just chuckled in return. "C'mon it can't be that bad man. I've seen worse" I replied.
"Man, we gotta check you up someday Gen, I mean it!" And I lost it, I just went into this fit of laughter for a bit. After walking in between these crevices of these wastelands for what seemed to be a whole day now, I'd look up into the darkened and dead sky of this place. It was odd as well, during the day it would be clear and easy to see yet it had blood red skies. During the nights however, the red would become slightly brighter but everything would be shrouded in darkness on the floor. It was the night now and I was busy looking up at the sky during this expedition. We made a temporary campsite near an abandoned village and looted it for food, water and generally some other supplies like kunai, senbon needles, a tanto I could use in battle and a first aid in this unusual language.
So me and Ako were simply busy talking about our experiences in fights until...
"What's that?" I asked Ako who now had a rather more serious facial expression, it was like he noticed someone trashtalk him behind his back just now. "I sense something, keep your weapons out" He advised in a hushed tone.
So I did that and I held the tanto I found earlier with a firm grip like my life depended on it because it really bloody did. Then, we'd hear a sudden crashing sound from the building beside us and a man with a giant purple, double edged sword came out and had it raised at me. He looked rather old as well in the glance I saw him in.
Didn't have too much time to count ages at that moment so I parried it by bringing my tanto up to his blades edge in a split second and my blade broke off but I managed to get an opening. So without thinking, I charged my rage aura and channeled an attack that would be sent to his stomach since his hands were up in the air right now.
I shot my small orb at him and bam! He was sent a few feet back and he stopped there so I could see him. He had this tattered, navy blue waistcoat on, a strap that would seath this sword, an old face indeed; sixty in age at least and to top it off, he looked to be the same height as me.
"The Dawn ain't never done me wrong. I saw that spell too youngin'!! That's an elemental right there! Ain't'cha? Your magic gon' be worth on that market for sure fella!! Hehe..." He smirked and as soon as I heard that, I was about to scream in a fit of pure malice if it wasn't for Ako who had kicked him in the chin!
"Don't listen to him Gen-! Woaaah-!!" The man grabbed his leg after he'd landed it and the old man threw him aside like trash. I felt even more rage boil in my blood. I was definitely not going to let that slide, of all things, how can I let my new friend be discarded so casually?
"Oh I'm definitely gonna take your element! Heh...now what's a Dawn you may ask? The Dawn is the sword I'm holdin right now kiddo, it's got three spells in its enchantment! And we're gonna play a game... ehehehe..." He cackled. I stood still, making sure a single muscle on me wouldn't twitch even the slightest since this man right here was a real danger to me and Ako.
"Here's the game: you have three chances to guess my abilities on this here sword and if ya fail?! Ya'll gonna die cos humans rock!!"
"No, not you...you're not a human..." I stated in my same blatant voice before dashing towards him and giving him an uppercut with my blazing scarlet aura. He quickly would swipe the sword towards my neck but I'd duck to save myself and then he quickly kicked me so I'd fall.
Bad.
Ako on the other hand quickly used this speed enhancer spell on himself out of nowhere. He had this electric aura suddenly burst out of him and he ran around me to take a kunai from my pocket and then stabbed the man in the knee with it in under a second. Then, proceeded to dash off in between buildings.
I then took the distraction as an opportunity to make my aura explode. So I did that and I managed to send him flying into the air, landing into another building that looked like a blacksmith. I then got back up and ran towards the building at full speed, but the old man suddenly appeared before me with a purple glow on his body that suddenly disappeared before he swiped it to my waist. To dodge that, I'd duck again but that wouldn't be to my favour as it had cut open my skin on my leg and arm; I kicked him off of me before he could choke me since we were that close though.
I charged up my aura now and I pulled out a bach of these knives and kunai. I coated them all in my red, deathly aura and began to storm him with these by throwing them at him repeatedly; at insane speeds. Some of them would hit him. Two in the shoulders and one in the leg.
"A-agh...you mutt!!" The man came charging at me with the blade and before I could even strafe left, I felt as if all my ability to move was replaced by this force that planted both my feet to the ground. As if my body had betrayed me. My eyes widened in that moment; it was for too quick for me to think of any way out at the time but as the blade came crashing down, I could feel my heart bash my chest out even more.
Until...
Ako had caught him, turned his aim to the other side and then he'd kick the man in the back of the head so he'd faceplat to the ground. "Ough!" I stood there in shock for a second before I heard a snap of two fingers that brought me back to my senses...
"Ako..." I stated simply. "Yeah, don't worry man, that's just a side effect of immense shock."
"Thank you"
And in that second, in the corner of my eye...
"HAH!! NOT WHAT I PLANNED FOR BUT I'LL TAKE IT!" I heard a voice screech. When I turned to look behind myself, I'd see the same purple glow as before but this time with a purple portal behind him.
"The first spell..."
I quickly made a crimson orb, but the blade was too close.
"...Is..."
I inched it towards his chin. Just a tiny bit left.
"...A portal spell..."
The blade banged me on the floor, my sight faltered and everything became a blur, the world around me seemed hazy and light. I suddenly found myself in front of Ako a moment later...
"It's alright man, you'll be alri-"
And that was it.
