Mizuki Pov:

I sat at my desk, barely paying attention to what the teacher was saying. It was a normal day but for some reason I could sense this strange aura in the air. It almost felt like... something bad was about to happen. I decided to ignore it and stared out the window waiting for class to end. The teacher then announced that she had to leave the classroom for a moment, so I continued looking out the window, hoping something interesting might happen.

Suddenly my attention was drawn away from the window as I heard the faint sound of scissors and... it felt like someone was... touching my hair. "No no no, it can't be..." I tried to convince myself as I turned around only to have my focus locked onto Akumu, a girl with long, straight, black hair who had bullied me for several years now.

My eyes widened as I noticed what she was holding in her hand. Locks of light pink hair. I reached to the back of my head and immediately felt my eyes get watery as I realised what had happened. I looked around and everyone was staring at us. at me. At first they were just whispering and giggling among themselves, but then they began laughing and calling out for everyone to hear, including me.

"Now you'll finally be able to fit in!" "You look just like how you did in middle school." I couldn't move or speak. All I could do was sit there, listen, and cry. "Crybaby." "I thought you would be more masculine than that." I closed my eyes, hoping to wake up from this nightmare.

When I reopened my eyes, I was no longer in a classroom, but instead I was in my bed in Ena and I's dorm room. I was drenched in sweat and was breathing heavily. I reached for the back of my neck and thankfully my pink hair was the same length as usual. It was just a dream... thank goodness. I looked around the room and noticed that Ena's bed was empty. Maybe she snuck out again... she does that sometimes.

Even though I knew it was just a dream, I couldn't help but feel a weight in my stomach and the lump in your throat you get when you feel that painful need to cry. The things my classmates said in my dream lingered through my mind and it was becoming hard to hold back tears. Crystalline tears rolled down my face leaving a trail of dampness, and silent cries turned into audible sobs. I tried to calm myself down, especially because I knew I was being irrational and that it was just a dream, but I couldn't help but be reminded of not only the dream, but also the past.

Ena pov:

It was around 11:00 pm and since I wasn't really tired but also really bored, I had decided to go to the bathroom and try on some accessories and stuff. Usually I would just do some work on my laptop or draw something, but I didn't want to risk disturbing Mizuki especially because they had had a rough day today. I had been listening to music, but I had a small headache from dehydration and my headphones were not helping with that, so I decided to take them off.

Suddenly, I heard a faint noise wavering through the silence. The sound was almost exactly the same as something I had heard only a few hours ago. Without a second thought, I got up and rushed towards the bedroom.

I opened the door and thankfully the scene wasn't the same as it was earlier today, but it was still something for me to be concerned about. I climbed up the bunk bed to face Mizuki who had tears streaming down their face, and brought them into a tight hug. I wasn't sure if Mizuki wanted to talk or if I should just hug them, but I did want to know what was going on.

E- M-Mizuki..? Are you okay? Can you tell me what happened?

M- I...

M- I-It's nothing serious...

Mizuki spoke between sobs, and I could tell they were trying their best to calm down.

E- ...

E- Well whatever it is, it's making you upset, and that's serious to me...

M- Um... well...

M- I just had a bad dream is all...

E- Oh, I see...

E- ...

E- Well, do you think... you could tell me what happened..?

M- I-I... I don't really want to talk about it...

E- Oh, okay. That's fine.

I held Mizuki in my arms and comforted them until they calmed down. It wasn't too often that Mizuki was upset, but I hated when they were, and I always try to do everything I can to help.

E- So... Do you think you can go back to sleep now..?

M- Y-Yeah, Maybe...

M- I-I'm scared...

E- ...

E- Would you feel better if... if I was next to you?

Mizuki nodded slowly while looking down. Even though it was my idea, I still felt a light trail of blush creep onto my face.

E- Alright, you stay here for a moment, I just need to turn out the lights.

Mizuki nodded again and I made my way down the ladder of the bunk bed and into the bathroom. I cleaned up the mess of jewellery and accessories before turning off the lights and heading back. It felt strange treating Mizuki like a scared little kid, especially because they were usually so energetic. But, if it made Mizuki feel better, I was willing to do anything.

I came back into the room and Mizuki was still sitting in bed, waiting patiently. I flicked the light switch which was placed inconveniently at the opposite side of the room to our beds, climbed back up the ladder, and laid down next to Mizuki under their My Melody covers and many soft plushies.

"Goodnight, Mizuki." I said as I began to lie down.

"Y-Yeah... Goodnight..." Mizuki said with uncertainty in their voice, still sitting up.

"A-Are you okay..?" I questioned.

"Y-Yeah... It's just... C-Can you.. hug me?" Mizuki spoke quietly, clearly still worried.

"U-Uh, yeah..! Of course..!" I replied, not expecting the question.

"Thank you..."

*******

I held Mizuki in my arms, just like they had done for me since many times before. As we both closed our eyes and were about to start drifting off, I whispered something within the silence. "It's okay, you're safe now."
