Chapter 39

Zee pov
After an hour of cycling, Nhu was exhausted and we had to return the bikes. He was not used to physical activity, unlike me who worked out regularly. We found another park where we could relax. This one had some benches, so I sat down and let him rest his head on my lap. I gently caressed his hair. "I had fun today, hia," Nhu said with his eyes closed. "Me too," I replied, rubbing his belly. He cuddled up to my shirt. He was so adorable, I felt like he would purr if he were a cat. " I'm sorry, hia. I'm not as fit as you," he said, looking embarrassed. "Don't worry, Nhu. You did great," I said, smiling at him. "Thank you for taking me out" he said, sounding sleepy. "I had fun too, Nhu. You're very sweet," I said, looking down at him as he took a nap on my lap.

I decided to stay informed on my phone as nhu took his nap. I opened the messages from max. 'hey bro we were able to take pictures of the mysterious man that Anna left her apartment with.' under the text was a picture of a man that I recognized all too well. I run my hand through my hair and remind myself not to get mad especially during nhu's day. I shove my phone back into my pocket startling nhu awake on my lap. "oh nhuu I'm sorry." I say as I hug him and comfort him. He always wakes up looking lost or sad and for some reason it makes me feel bad..

I choose to ignore the message from max and deal with it tomorrow night or something. I just wanted peace today. I should not have checked my phone. "Are you alright?" nhu asks me. "yeah" I simply say. He looks at me like he doesn't believe but let's it. "let's go for a walk around the park." He says pulling me by the hand. We walk around the park and it actually helps me clear my head. I feel much happier and relaxed after spending time with nhu. He always knows how to cheer me up.

We spent some time feeding the ducks at the lake, but he was so jumpy that he would drop the bread and run away whenever a duck approached him. I thought it was hilarious and snapped some photos of his cute reactions. As the sun set, the lake became a mirror of the moonlight. "Nhu, we should go, it's getting dark," I said. "No, please, can we stay a little longer and enjoy the view?" he pleaded. I couldn't resist his request it's sometimes so hard to say no to him. And the lake was really beautiful at night. It was almost six o'clock, so we had some time to relax by the water.

I felt so relaxed as I gazed at the lake. It was like a soothing melody to hear the crickets chirping and the frogs croaking now and then. I breathed in the fresh scent of the water mixing with the dry earth. It was so peaceful.
I glance at Nhu and see his dark, big eyes reflecting the lake and the moon. "Do you want to go back?" I ask him. He doesn't seem to notice me, he's so mesmerized by the scenery. I smile and pull him closer to me, resting his head on my shoulder.

"let's go eat dinner." I suggest to nhu knowing he won't refuse food. He loves to try new dishes and flavors. "sure do you want to go-" "I have a reservation at a restaurant don't worry about that." I say cutting him off. I take his hand and lead him to the sidewalk. Then I remembered that we cycled here in rental bicycles that we took back. With a sigh I call for a car to come fetch us. I hope he doesn't mind the wait.

The car arrived in no time to pick us up. It felt like the road was shorter than when we biked here. The car ride was relaxing as nhu leaned his head on my shoulder. I hoped he wouldn't doze off because I didn't want to disturb him for our date, so I suggested we play some games on my phone together. It worked and kept him awake until we reached the restaurant. "Wow, this place is fancy. Are we underdressed for it? Let's go somewhere else." He said, trying to turn back. "No, it's fine." I said, pulling him in. We got to the reception. "Reservation for zee pruk panich." I said. The receptionist bowed politely and took us to a private section. He gave me a knowing look before he left nhu and I alone.
After ordering and eating our food, I felt more nervous because I knew our desserts were coming next.

The waiter brought our desserts and a bunch of red roses and a small bag and left. "Roses and dessert? This place is fancy." Nhu chuckled. "I got them for you," I said. "I love them," he said, hugging them. He scooped some of his dessert and fed me some. I put the small bag from earlier on the table and slid it towards him. "Open it," I said. He gently put the flowers down and opened the bag to reveal a small velvet box. He looked up at me and slowly opened the box, showing the ring. He gasped. "It's a promise ring for you," I blurted out. "I'm asking you to be my boyfriend officially." I said, looking away. I felt him get up from his chair and my heart sank, thinking he was going to leave me. But he was just coming to hug me so tightly we almost fell. "Yes," he said. I cried tears of joy and hugged him back.

Nhu pov

"Do you like it? I could get it changed" Hia says after seeing me look at the ring. He looks nervous and hopeful at the same time. "I love it" I say reassuring him. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him softly. "I'm glad" he breathes out relieved. He hugs me back and kisses my forehead. "Tonight was perfect." I say. I look into his eyes and smile. "Really? What was your favorite part? We did a lot." He asks. He takes my hand and leads me to the exit. "When you asked me to be yours." I shyly whisper. He stops and turns to face me. He smiles and cups my face with his hands. "You are mine, and I'm yours. Forever." He says. He kisses me again, more passionately this time. He chuckles and pulls me closer to him. "Let's get out of here." He says. "And go where? It's already dark." I ask. I feel his warm breath on my ear. "Anywhere where we can cuddle. Let's head back to the hotel" he says. He nibbles on my earlobe and makes me shiver. "What kind of cuddling?" I ask. I know what he means, but I want to hear him say it. He laughs "The sleeping kind. We went to the aquarium, did karaoke, cycled, fed ducks and walked around a lake. Aren't you tired?" He whispers in my ear. After listing all the things we did I suddenly felt tired for real. "I guess I am. Let's go" I say. I took the flowers and held them. I was about to walk out of the restaurant when he suddenly decided to pick me up bridal style. It was so embarrassing but I couldn't help but laugh and giggle till we got to the car.
I can't believe what just happened.  He was funny, smart, and charming. He made me feel special and wanted.  don't know what came over me, but I felt like I had nothing to lose. Now I'm sitting here, looking at the ring on my finger, wondering if this is real or a dream. I just walked in the restaurant single and walked out taken.
