The Next Day

Third Person Omniscient

It was the next day after the fight at Lola's house and she was still emotional. She was at Karen's home and hasn't gotten out of bed since she got there. All she could do was cry in bed. Every time her phone rang she thought it was Steph, but when she realized it wasn't she would cry some more. Karen was flooded with calls and e-mails about the incident and about Lola's Finest business. She was getting overwhelmed with the lack of help. She called Neeki to come over later after he got off of work and she also called Lola's mom to let her know Lola wasn't doing too good. Lola just wanted all of this to be a dream.

Karen

I fixed me a glass of wine and got Lola some water. I knocked and went into the room to see Lola laying in the same spot. I sighed.

"Lola? You need to eat and drink something. It's 5 o'clock and you haven't moved yet." She didn't respond. I walked to her side and saw that she was sleeping. The sheets were soaked in tears and i just put the water by the bed. I know once Neeki gets here, he's gonna damn near drag her out the bed so i'll let her rest for now.

Two Hours Later

I heard knocking at my door and I knew it was Neeki so I just yelled for him to come in.

"Hey girl. Where is she?" Neeki asked.

"Still in the bed." Neeki looked at the time on his phone and shook his head.

"Oh no ma'am. She got to get up." I followed him into the bedroom where she was.

Lola

"Lola...Lola get up!" I heard Neeki's voice say. I just kept laying there with my eyes closed. "I know you not sleep. Get up now." I felt the covers being removed from me.

"Leave me alone please."

"Listen...I love you girl. And i'm sorry this happened to you, but I can't let you lay here and cry yourself to death. You still have a business to run and you need to clean your stitches. Get up." Neeki said sternly. I continued to lay there.

"Lola, Neeki is right. You can't lay there forever. Just give Steph some time and he'll come around."

"He called off the engagement...He said he didn't wanna marry someone he can't trust.." It got quiet and I started to cry again. "I just can't believe this...if I knew it would end like this- if I knew-"

"Don't get yourself worked back up Lola. Just give him some time and then maybe you guys can talk. But right now he needs his space. In the meantime, you need to get up and get yourself together." Neeki said. I sat up and wiped my face.

"What if he never wants to speak to me again?" I asked.

"Then that would just be something you would have to live with. But I don't see Steph saying that so don't worry yourself on a what if." Neeki said.

I have no choice but to worry about the what ifs. The what ifs are what is making me panic and cry. I just don't want it to end like this.
