Chapter 24

Both kings honored my invitation and came to my court...
I was getting ready to meet both kings in the presence of my entire court and I already knew that it would be a stressful day for me so i asked my handmaidens to prepare a bath for in as soon as the meeting ended.
I was dressed up and with James beside me, i went into the great hall.
We settled down and the meeting began
"King William of Vala and King Dominic of Phaeris, you have both been summoned to this court because you both have decided to start a war in my backyard and have also decided that you want to use Theria as a pawn in your war games. What say you King William?"
The king responded
"Queen Regina, it is an honor to meet you. Tales of your greatness can be heard from all corners of Phaeris and-"
"Flattery will get you no where Your Majesty..." James cut in, clearly unamused...
"I was talking to the queen...." He responded, looking James in the eye
"My consort will not be spoken to in any rude manner of the sort. You will speak to my husband with respect sir" i chimed in with irritation... Both these kings were already starting to irritate me and we hadn't even lasted 30 minutes into the meeting.
"Listen, I am not here to choose sides. I called you both here to cease this useless fire. If any one of my citizens get harmed in this cross fire that you both are trying to create, i will then be forced to do what I don't want to do"
"Which is?" Asked King Dominic.
"Very glad you asked Sir...i will take both your kingdoms...And i will put you both in exile for disrupting the peace of my kingdom. And i am sure you both will not like that. I am also sure that you both know just how powerful this kingdom is. What? Is it because I'm a woman? Do you both think that by sucking up to me, i will fold? I am my father's daughter and King Cyrus will roll over in his grave if he heard that I allowed two men be the reason why Theria will fall and let me tell the both of you something, as long as I, Queen Regina reigns over this kingdom, Theria will never fall to her knees because you both cannot quench your differences over egotistical bullshit....i will not allow my son, the heir to inherit a throne  that has been buried in several wars just because you both want to be petty."
"Queen Regina, I assure you, all this could be settled if King William here can see reasons why we would not want to go back to the old ways! Phaeris is her own kingdom now and we should be allowed to remain as we are. Why would be want to start a war because one of his soldiers died in a brothel in Phaeris!"
"A brothel?!!! Hang on....you sit here and tell us that this war started because of a brothel?!!" Finniegan yelled.
"King William chimed in
"He was found dead! On his land!! A valan solider found dead in Phaerian soil "
"That solider decided to cross borders and entered into the brothel which is also situated at the border of Phaeris....So you thought it was a conspiracy against you King William?" I asked with again, irritated and even more annoyance.
He couldn't  look at me....He probably now knew how stupid all of this sounded.
James started "you decided to put the lives of millions in danger just because your solider decided to have a bit of fun on his land??????!! If the court can agree with me, i would like to plead that this war should immediately be stopped and cease fire be called. This is senseless. Baseless accusations. No evidence that a Phaerian  killed this Valan Solider. No evidence whatsoever..."
Finnie and James were fuming becUse honestly this was a waste of time.
I decided to proclaim my judgment
For some odd reason, i caught a glimpse of Lady Absinthe and my half sister in her arms and i went into protective mode
"If this war isn't called off within the next hour, i will be forced to unleash the full force of Theria on both your kingdoms. That is my judgment"
"THE QUEEN HAS SPOKEN, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN" shouted the prime minister
"LONG LIVE THE QUEEN" everyone responded.
"Your majesty.. before you go, i've left you a gift in one of your stables....an arabian beauty just as magnificent as your self. I am sure that you'll find her extraordinary and please...it is my apology gift to you for all the unnecessary.....fuss" said King Dominic as i wanted to walk past him.
"Thank you Sir...." I said as I proceeded to leave..
I left the great hall, straight into my personal bath house. I needed to shake this off of me..James came to join me just in the nick of time and we were left alone.
"A bloody horse..." James said as he mumbled. Today had probably made him feel grumpy.
"Well imagine how i felt when dealing with those two....if I didn't call for this meeting, we would probably be planning war strategies right about now....."
He sighed. He knew i was right. Violence was not always the answer. That was what my father taught me..
"Have you gone to see the horse yet?" I asked while soaking in. He responded "well.. She is magnificent. He didn't lie. She's a very beautiful stead. What shall you name her?"
"Hmm...Fiona sounds like a fine name..." i said. "Maybe i could gift it to our son on his first birthday.. what do you think?"
"That is a fine idea" he said.
"What color is she?" I asked.
"She's a white horse...he knows better than to gift the Queen of Theria any different..."
I chuckled.."James. Do you know why my father made the rule of the white horses?"
He shook his head.. i sat close to him and responded "because the house of Barrington is known for its courage and strength as a royal family. Courage in the face of kings like William and Dominic.."
He smiled and kissed me. No one ever said being queen was easy..
