Chapter 23

"Your Majesty!!, The other kingdoms are at war!" Shouted lord Maximilian as he burst through the large hall doors into the privy council meeting.
"What on earth is wrong with you Lord Maximilian? You will comport yourself infront of the sovereign. You are not in the battle ground anymore. now what are you talking about?" James asked in annoyance.
The middle aged Lord adjusted himself rather quickly. I wouldn't blame him though, he served my father as a captain in his army and when he reached a suitable age to retire from the battle field, he was given a position at court .
"I'm sorry your highness but this is a matter of great urgency.. the war is between the kingdom of Phaeris and the kingdom of Vala."
"What started it?" I asked
"The king of Vala believes that Phaeris should come back to being one kingdom with them since they used to be one large empire. The king of Phaeris did not want to have the discussion and just two days ago, a Valan solider was found dead in one of the cities in Phaeris so... that was when Vala declared war on Phaeris"
"And you say they are trying to infiltrate Theria?" Finnie asked.
"Yes. Both kingdoms decided that whoever gets to you first will have the opportunity to get you on their side"
"Your majesty I suggest that we reinforce the kingdom. I mean the borders"
"I agree. We cannot afford to get into war right now. Yes we have an arsenal of a thousand years but...our citizens will suffer" James added.
I took a deep breath. During times like this when my father was king, he would tell me "Caution must be taken carefully when it comes to war or else you might end up a lonely sovereign with nothing but corpses in your kingdom instead of living people"
"We do what the prince and my husband have suggested. I will not put the lives of my people at risk just because two kings have bruised ego. This war has nothing to do with Theria and her people. Deploy five thousand men and station them around the borders. Put more men in the part that have already been infiltrated and move the citizens from that part and into the city... No one goes in or out when it is dark...Lord Maximilian i want you to personally see to this. Station men everywhere in the city. We will send for Sir Richard. He will lead the men to the border..."
Lord Maximilian bowed and left.
Immediately, a guard burst in
"What the fuck!" Finnie yelled
"Your Majesty, your highnesses, my lords" said the royal messenger as he bowed.
"What is it Cornelius?" I asked, rubbing my forehead.
"Your Majesty, two letters came in for you just now. The rider said he'd been riding all night" he replied
I signaled and he came over to hand them to me.
He bowed and left
"I will adjourn this meeting. It seems we are being forced to stop this meeting against our will" i announced. The lords bowed and left.
Finnie came over to me, bowed and pecked me on the cheek
"You're doing amazing. Father will be proud of you Regina..."
I smiled with a tear running down my eye and nodded. He hugged me again, addressed James by his title as a form of greeting and left.
James came over and sat beside me, resting a hand on my thigh, i felt that jolt again. I wanted him. So bad...
"James i-"
"Shhhh... i know" He whispered "do you want to do it here or your your chamber?
"Uh....uhm.." I stuttered
"Use your words my queen" he said with a light chuckle.
"Your bedchamber"
"Okay"
He took my hands in his and took me to his bed chamber.
After locking the door, I hurriedly took my clothes off while he did the same. We didn't even have time to kiss properly when he spun me around so fast and bent me over at the edge of the bed. Where did he learn this?!!!
He pushed himself inside me while vocally expressing satisfaction through his moans
"Shit!!! James how did you learn this?" I asked as he started stroking.
I felt something in my core but i couldn't describe it.
"Yes my queen! Squeeze yourself around me"
I was choked up with ecstasy and realized that i was very stressed and needed this so much.
After we were done, I proceeded to read the letters while James slept in my bed.
The letters came from both kings. Each one trying to urge me to join his side since i had a stronger force than both combined.
I decided that these letters were bullshit and i burned them....
Why would i and my people be used as a pawn.. i decided to send for both kings to meet with me because this nonsense had to stop. I quickly wrote letters and sent out my riders to deliver them.
