We had to wait for my grandmother to arrive before proceeding with the burial ceremony...It was a rainy day at the castle.....The clouds were gloomy and all was silent...We all proceeded to the royal cemetery, with my grandmother  and mother in front following the casket as the horses drew it on... then there was Finnegan and I right behind her and then our friends were behind..
I was clothed in black..

My grandmother wore a thick black veil covering her face

My grandmother wore a thick black veil covering her face. It was tradition just incase the son died before the mother. It was a way of saying that the mother couldn't bare to see her son being buried...
My hair was combed.. I didn't put on any jewelry.. the only thing that graces my face were the tears that bathed my cheeks...
Finnegan and I held hands and refused to let go..
We got to the cemetery. Since mother demanded that the funeral be quick.. the priest blessed and anointed the body before he was lowered to the ground....
After the painful ceremony.. I retired to my room and refused to speak with anyone.. not even James.. I changed to my night dress.. brushed my hair and looked at myself in the mirror.. Serena usually helped me undress but this time I just wanted to be alone...
This kept happening for months :....my schedule was the same: wake up, bathe, eat, sleep.... At this point, it was already four months since the king passed and I still wasn't myself....I laid down and I kept having flashbacks of when I was a little girl and my father would chase me down the palace halls at night when I couldn't sleep so I would get tired and sleep off.
Sometimes he would stay with me in bed and tell me stories but he'd usually be the one sleeping off first.... I still couldn't believe he was gone.......my coronation was in the morning....
I didn't realize I had been thinking for hours because it was night time and I was hungry for the first time in weeks.......I ordered that my dinner be brought up to me and I ate alone...
Tonight James came to check up on me.....I was in bed, awake and naked... he closed the door and stood by my bed.
"My love" I said as I looked at him..
He looked at me with great pity "you look like a shadow of yourself my beloved...what shall I do to alleviate your pain a little?"
I sat up and said "stay...."
He took off his clothes and joined me....
He held me in his arms...I felt safe..
"Your mother is done planning your coronation" he said. "Everything is in place"he continued..
I sighed "then let me enjoy this last night of being a princess...."
He caressed me some more and we slept off.. the next morning, James went back to his chamber to get ready while my maids swarmed into my room. They did all their best to make me look normal again... I even took a milk bath...
I wore my gown:

When the time came, I was ushered out of my bed chamber

When the time came, I was ushered out of my bed chamber... as I reached the grand ball room, there anxiety in my heart.. I saw my brother... He smiled as he looked upon me..
"My dear sister...I'm happy you are in somewhat good spirits."
I replied "Finnegan..."
A tear almost escaped but he stopped it "you mustn't do this Regina.. be strong.. you're about to be crowned Queen....please.."
I nodded as he kissed my forehead and followed me in...
The House of Lords were present as well as the noble families and the priest....I saw my grandmother and my mother in front.. Mother was still sad but at the same time happy...
The Queen mother looked very proud....
I looked in the crowd and saw Lady Absinthe.. she showed no emotion but she wiped off a tear from her eyes..
I got to the altar and I was asked to kneel.. the priest started reading the oaths and I responded to each of them. He anointed my head and then I saw it.. the crown, the orb and the scepter.. they were both placed on my hand while the priest proceeded to place the crown on my head...I stood up and faced the crowd.. I had no expression...
The priest then said " Her Royal Majesty, Regina the second, by the grace of God, soverign of the seven provinces, Queen in the south, Lily of the realm and the great lioness of Theria,  Long live the Queen".
And the crowns responded "long live the Queen and long May she reign".....
I stood there...remembering when my father used to wear this crown on special occasions.. but now it's on my head.. what a world....
The after celebrations were to be  held at night at the grand hall.
I had retired to my bed chambers to change so that I could be painted for the official portrait.

It took sometime but the portrait was finished and I decided to take some rest in my bedchamber as the after celebrations were just barely starting

It took sometime but the portrait was finished and I decided to take some rest in my bedchamber as the after celebrations were just barely starting.
My friends Helena and Princess Berenice came to join me.
"Your majesty" said the both of them as they bowed.
I sighed
"I have to get used to this don't I?"
They both sat on my bed looking worried "My queen.. you haven't cracked a smile in months! It is quite worrisome.. the kingdom is going to come for your celebration and you cannot welcome them with a dark cloud over your head..
I sighed.. they were right..
"I guess you're right"
The boys came in too.
"Your Majesty" Finnie said as he bowed.. I got up to hug him and the rest..
"Well. Let's not tarry anymore before I decide not to leave this bedchamber at all"
We all laughed as I walked out.
The servants in the hall bowed to greet me. This was a new feeling...
My mother and grandmother were walking towards us.. For the first time ever, they both curtsied to greet me "Your Majesty" they said.
"My mothers.." I said I went to embrace them.
They were both still clad in black because they were to mourn my father for a year... well my grandmother had to mourn for a year and then my mother for two years...
Grandmother quickly whispered something to my ears "never put too much trust in your friends, learn who your are enemies my child"
She kissed my forehead and proceeded to retire to bed alongside my mother....
James took my hand and we all went in...
As the doors were opened, the heralds announced:
"I PRESENT TO YOU HER ROYAL MAJESTY, QUEEN REGINA II ,LILY OF THE SOUTH,COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THERIA AND CHAMPION OF THE KINGDOM! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!"
The crowd responded "LONG LIVE THE QUEEN AND LONG MAY SHE REIGN!!"
I spoke up "please, the celebrations must continue"
And that it did...
Everyone was drinking and enjoying the night. I was talking with my circle when a guard came up to me with a young man standing behind him.
"Your majesty, this man says he has come from across the seas to see you"
I looked at him...
"Thank you Percival, you may go."
The guard bowed and left.
"Who are you?"
The man stepped up, and I felt James' grip on me tighten.
"My name is Richard Hughes. I've come from far away to pay homage to the most beautiful queen in all the land..it is an honor to be in your presence my queen. I have come to offer my services to you my queen if you would allow me"
He took my hand and kissed the back of my palm in such a sensual way.. James was not having it.
"Why do you think you can barge in here and make such demands?!"
I had to shut it down.
"Cool your temper my love..... I want to listen to what he has to say.. you say you are from overseas.. where might I ask?" What
He responded "England"
Berenice and Helena gasped.
"I've heard so much about England! Oh I wish to go there!" Helena said
"I do hope the king is in good health?" I asked.
"Yes your majesty. And he extends his regards" he said
I continued " well Mr Richard....for now, you are but a guest and I should treat you as such... My father taught me to be very hospitable to others as you may never know who you'll need by your side in times of trouble"...
He bowed again "thank you your Majesty"
Finnegan came and stood beside me
"This is my twin brother, Prince Finnegan, brother, this is Mr Richard. He's come from England"
They shook hands..Finnegan being a good judge of character wasn't too pleased and honestly I couldn't see the reason why.. Mr Richard was a guest...
After Richard left to join the celebration, James said to me "my love.. do you trust him"...
I looked at him... "time will tell my beloved...time will tell.."
