Chapter 26

I was furious.

" Why would Finnie decide to go back to that wench after what she did!" i yelled while pacing back and forth with James in the room. Aura and Bea were asleep in their comfortable beds in the corner, paying me no mind at all.

James said "I had a talk with him, he felt she cheated because he neglected her"

I paused "Neglect my fucking ass!"

James corrected me "shhhh Regina! you are the queen!"

I responded " You're right! i am queen so i can banish her!"

He shook his head and came to hold me from behind while i looked out the window. He knew how to calm my angry spirit most times and i never fail to appreciate him for it.

"It's just.....She hurt him and because he is a part of me, she hurt me, I took her as a sister and she decided to repay me by screwing my poor brother over...it's not fair"

James sighed and said "While it is not fair, you need to now accept that he has forgiven her and is willing to let her back in. I think the only challenging thing for them now is finding a way of letting her back into your majesty's good graces"

I chuckled. "We'll leave that to God"

I really did not want to have anything to do with her but alas, i had no choice. I allowed Finnie invite her for our family trip to Falconbridge . On this trip, it would be me, James, Chadwick, Serena, the pets, Finnie, the wench, a few ladies in court, a few lords and our entourage of guards. The servants who would be with us were usually sent a day earlier so that they would clean the castle and prepare it for our arrival. This was Chadwick's first trip in the summer and i was excited, this was enough to mask the irritation that i felt towards that woman.

James POV:
Flaconbridge castle...it had been the private cottage of the royal family for years. Even before Regina's father took the throne, this castle stood as a resting place for Theria's monarchs whenever they needed some rest time. But for Regina, this was her sanctuary, her safe space and she did not like anybody to taint it which is why she still had her reservations on whether or not, she should allow the princess to join us. Personally I didn't think that it was going to be an issue but, Regina has a strong mind like her father so I believe that she can handle it. Unless she needs my help that is....

On the journey to the castle, Regina insisted on having Chadwick in the carriage with us which was quite unusual because the prince already had his own carriage but I had to chuck it up to her motherly instincts.
"My love" I called out.
She was deep in thought, holding our son who was sucking from her breast looking so contented.
She responded and jerked a little "Yes James? What is the matter?"
I smiled "come back to this world, you are going too far into your mind...Might get lost"
She giggled. Her smile always did something to me.

"I really don't want her here James. I am just trying to respect my brother but you know, I do not trust a lot of people these days. And I am wondering why he was so happy to accept her back after the rubbish she did to him"
"I understand but Finnegan is already a man. A man who must take a wife or else, you will have bastard nieces and nephews running around the kingdom."
"Oh please, Finnie only slept with one girl and she unfortunately died when her father's home was raided by bandits......he didn't quite love again until he met....her.." Regina responded. I chimed in "and...you were also friends"
She sighed and held Chadwick closer. "Yes she was as I said, she betrayed my trust and I hardly trust people these days"
We got to Falconbridge and got settled in rather quickly. I sent for Sir Richard to join us and he agreed. He wrote back stating that he would be there by the next dawn. Regina had gone to see about the affairs of the kitchen with some of the servants so I went to the fields to explore.
Night fell and I came back to the castle. I was walking the walls of the hallways, going to see Finnie when I spotted a servant....
"She must be new" I thought....
She caught my eye, smiled in such a manner and we kept at it before I walked away. What was that for? Surely it cannot mean....no. A servant girl will never try to take me from Regina....

Regina's POV:
We had just sat down for dinner and everyone on the table was in conversation with each other. James and I were making jokes and laughing, Finnie interrupted the chatter and said "I would like to make an announcement"
The table fell silent.
I felt James' grip on my hand get tighter. What was this?....
"Actually the Princess and I have an announcement to make.... With my sister's permission ofcourse, I shall like to marry Princess Berenice"
My heart thumped.... The hall fell silent...
I kept strong eye contact with my brother "Finnegan are you sure?" I asked, making sure to ignore the one beside him.
"Yes sister....I recognize that we have....past differences...but I want us to use this as a symbol of peace...A fresh start." He said, looking at me as if pleading with me not to cause a scene
I sighed..."Fuck" I thought.
I looked to James.. He nodded, as a way to reassure me.
"You have my blessings brother BUT......if another incident were to occur again, I will make sure that she is hanged this time" I said as I took the final swig of my wine and started walking away...
