Adrenaline pulsed through me. Hazel and I ran as fast as we could, her hand still wrapped around mine. My stomach knotted. "Shane! Your hand is burning mine!" Hazel informed me as we ran through the exit gate. "Sorry. I don't know--." My heart jumped. Anthony and Morgan stared at me. I quickly let go of Hazel's hand and cleared my through, "Hey." Anthony looked at me confused, "Hi." Morgan glared at me and scrunched her nose. "I was just about to call. So pizza?" I said nervously. "Yeah. Care to join Hazel?" Anthony asked. Hazel looked at me, "Sure."
Anthony's house was right over the hill. Hazel and I anxiously walked to it, hoping to not run into the Captivity Unit agent. "Why are you guys in such a rush?" Morgan asked,"What's wrong?" I quickly tried to think of an excuse. "We ran into Brandon and his group of assholes." Hazel said calmly. Her tone was soft. "I'd be rushing away to if I saw him," Anthony laughed.
I need to get better at covering for myself. It feels weird not being able to tell my friends what's going on, or why I'm acting so strange. The thought made me nauseous.
"Finally! I'm starving." Morgan Shouted obnoxiously as Anthony opened the door. The house was empty. His parents must be working late.

My attention was focused on Hazel the whole time. She would often use her telekinesis to make my chair shake enough for only me to notice. It was her way of letting me know of when and when not to speak.
Eventually, Morgan stood up, "Shane I need you to help me with something." I looked at Hazel, "Ok." "Follow me." I got up and followed her outside.
'WHACK'
My right cheek began to sting. I grabbed it and looked at Morgan. "What the hell!" I shouted. My jaw ached, "What are you--?" "You're hiding something and the new girl is in on it," she interrupted,"What were you doing in the park, and why are you two suddenly buddy buddy after you disappear during lunch?" I tried to stay calm,"I have a lot going on right now." Her face turned red. As I started to walk to the door she grabbed my hand tightly. "Why are you so warm? Are you ok?" Morgan asked. Concern overtook her anger. I yanked my hand out of her's. "I'm fine." I said sternly and walked inside.
Anthony must have noticed the red mark on my cheek. He looked at Morgan and gave her a dirty look. She gave him the finger and sat down. Hazel looked confused, "So, did you get what you needed done?" I looked at her and shifted my brow downward. "Yes actually," Morgan spat out.
"Well, I should be going," Hazel said while scooting away from the table. "I'll walk you home," I quickly said. "Thanks," Hazel replied. Morgan rolled her eyes. "See you guys tomorrow," I mumbled and walked out the door with Hazel.
