Clarke's POV-
(4 days later)
The wooden gavel echoes the room as the judge officially concludes the case. Bellamy was found innocent. And although Lucas Fredrich won't be punished for anything, the trial has definitely shifted perspectives.
Bellamy's lawyer enlightened everyone on the innocence and sense of community within grounder culture, showing us video and picture evidence she'd gathered- evidentially, matching exactly how Lexa had described their culture apart from warfare.
Speaking of Lexa, she hadn't watched the case at all, but from what I could gather, she was being kept informed about everything that happened, and of course, the verdict.
We'd obviously seen each other at dinner, but other than that I hadn't heard much of her.
The judge stands up from her podium, as does the jury and rest of the onlookers, including myself. I rush over to Bellamy just as the guard takes his handcuffs off.
"Hey Princess." He says with his face buried in my hair as I hug him tightly.
"Hey..." I smile, engraving this moment in my mind forever.
"I'm innocent." He realizes.
"You always were." I whisper.
I pull back my head to look Bellamy in the eyes. He pulls back as well. Our faces are just inches from each other and amidst a crowd of people swarming around us, it feels as though we are in slow motion.
I feel Bellamy's warm breath on my face and feel his presence so, so close to mine.
Suddenly, I feel as his arm wraps around my waist and he pulls me into a gentle, hesitant kiss.
From my peripheral vision, as this is happening, I notice Lexa glide through the auditorium doors with Anya flanking her.
Our eyes immediately find each other while my lips are interlocked with Bellamy's, and I pull away from him.
He doesn't notice my shock.
"I'm sorry. I just thought... I- um." He mumbles.
"No, don't be sorry. It's just that, I'm in a relationship." I whisper back, my eyes darting between his and Lexa's, who keeps a stoic, but amused look on her face as she watches our interaction end.
I step back from Bellamy with my face white and flushed, suddenly realizing that we are in a crowded room. No one seemed to have been paying attention and Bellamy is off to find Octavia now, no doubt.
I walk up to Lexa. Anya's nostrils flare protectively, and her eyes are red.
"What do you want, sky girl?" She growls. I internally roll my eyes.
"I'd like to speak with Lexa, if you don't mind." I scoff, annoyed.
She holds her glare, but Lexa turns her neck just slightly. Lexa keeps her eyes on me, but it's enough of a signal to have Anya excuse herself.
After we're alone and duck out into the hallway, we can finally speak.
"Sorry about that, I didn't know he was going to kiss me. I shouldn't have been that close to him..." I start to ramble and apologize.
Lexa keeps her gaze and tone calm and unbothered.
"It's alright. I trust you." She speaks.
My heart swells with love. This is how a healthy relationship goes. I feel overcome with gratitude.
I smile- a silent 'thank you.'
"The trial is over." I point out.
"It is. But our fight is not." She responds.
"What do you mean?"
"Although there has been progress made to intertwine our two peoples, we are not one yet. And we may never fully be. But I have an idea."
"What is it?" I ask skeptically.
"Skaikru becomes the 13th clan and you, our ambassador. That way, you could stay with me in Polis, and we could continue to work on peace." She says with a sparkle in her eyes.
"That sounds... perfect!" I glow.
"I'm glad you're onboard because your people have already approved. There is to be an official ceremony in Polis in 3 weeks' time." She continues.
"Also, there's something else."
"What is it?"
"Two things actually. The first is about Anya and Raven."
"I was hoping that Raven could also come to Polis and help bridge the technology gap between our people. It would really help and benefit us. In exchange, we could send warriors to teach yours to fight, and anyone else yours would deem necessary for survival."
"That's amazing. We can discuss it all back in Polis. And I'm sure Anya will be very happy to have Raven with her." I speak.
Lexa's cheeks pinken.
"I'm a romantic." She sighs, smiling.
I pull her around a corner and kiss her gently.
"What's the second thing?"
"Indra and I have also been speaking and she has gone to ask Octavia to become her second again. She has been watching her for the past few days and she's kept her training up. We see it in her eyes, she has the spirit of a fighter still, and that does not go away."
I smile again.
"That's amazing."
"She'll also come to Polis to train with Indra. And Lincoln would come too." Lexa finishes.
"Wow. You're just giving everyone a happy-ending, aren't you?" I grin.
"I guess so." She whispers.
"I also have an idea." I state. I'm surprised to hear the words fall out of my mouth, but they do.
"What is it?" She questions.
I feel my heart thumping in my chest as my cheeks surely redden. My palms begin to sweat as my stomach suddenly feels hollow.
"In my culture, when two peoples become one, instead of having an ambassador, usually a person from each side chooses to marry each other." I speak. I immediately feel sick to my stomach, but I leave my words out there.
My blue eyes are shell-shocked with worried anticipation, but after a few painful seconds I meet Lexa's green, glowing eyes.
"Marriage?" She confirms.
"Yeah... I mean we don't have to. It's stupid. I just thought that since we love each other and that this might be the perfect time. But I know this is a secret for our safety. And your people won't approve. And love is weakness..." I ramble.
"Clarke, Shof op." [Clarke, be quiet.] Lexa breathes.
"Oh, sorry. It was stupid, I know..." I sigh in an embarrassed defeat, but before I finish my sentence, I'm engulfed in a searing, passionate kiss. This kiss is unlike anything I've felt before. I can practically feel Lexa's smile down to my soul.
"Id hod in eintheing mou than bilaik bilaik houmon." [I'd love nothing more than to be your wife.] She whispers onto my parted lips.
