Theo is the best possible event route Y/n can hope for

Theo is the best possible event route Y/n can hope for. His bad ending is mild, just a breakup, and that is exactly what Y/n has been hoping for. It's something he can control, with it being predictable — and for an otome game which can get pretty wild — it's safe. And that's what Y/n's aiming for.

Elliot's ending is also plausible—but Y/n would prefer it if Angelina avoids the [Betrayal] Route entirely. If things go poorly, Elliot will backstab her in some desperate attempt to curry favor, and it will all backfire catastrophically.

And, of course, it's just his luck.

Only today does Y/n realize the game is already in motion. Angelina is set to meet Arion Ambrose for tea to discuss diplomatic relations. That meeting will trigger their first encounter, and Y/n does not want that to happen—not now, not yet.

This stupid game. I can't even relax for a single moment, he thinks, slightly annoyed. Well, it's not too late. I can still intercept it.

In their father's message, Lord Aragon—the count—has only asked for someone to meet the Crown Prince as an envoy. He doesn't specify who. In the novel, Livio is too busy to make time, so Angelina goes instead. But now Y/n is free, which means he can step in, disrupt the meeting, and prevent the destruction route from activating.

"I can meet the Crown Prince later," Y/n tells Angelina hastily. "Don't trouble yourself with such trivial matters. You must be busy preparing for the academy."

"That would be good," Angelina says with a sigh of relief. "I was wondering how to fit things into my schedule. And I must admit, I'm terrified of His Highness. Have you heard the rumors?"

"Uh..." Y/n hesitates. He's only heard the squealing gossip of the maids, whispering about how impossibly handsome Arion is. Desirable; prestigious, untouchable. But no one has ever said anything outrightly bad about him.

Of course, he must be a little insane if he's a yandere.

"They say his smile is like a dozen knives," Angelina whispers, her voice dramatic. "They say with just a flick of his hand, he can punish anyone who wrongs him! I wouldn't want to meet someone like that."

"He can't be that bad," Y/n says, but it's really mostly to convince himself. "Besides, didn't you tell me a while back that you didn't believe the rumors? Arion can't possibly be a psycho who kills people just to get what he wants, right?"

No. He's exactly that.

"I —"

"Whatever it is, it's just a meeting," Y/n reasons aloud. "Purely business. Nothing can happen, so focus on yourself. Your debut is in a few days, so worry about that."

"If you're sure..." Angelina looks skeptical, but she sighs. "Just don't let me catch you injured."

"Sure," he says easily.
