Just thankfully, there is a way to shut down the system.

Of course, Y/n will still get alerts for important developments — and now be notified when an event starts — but overall, Iris can be silenced. She can't see what he's doing, can't hear his conversations; can't manipulate him.

[First Meet has commenced. Your chances of disrupting the 'Elliot' route is now 78%.]

And now is one of those times.

"Thank you for the update, Iris," Y/n says, and he means the opposite. At least she can't butt into things like this.

He doesn't need some ruddy system interfering. He'll follow his own plan, without her meddling. Still, Y/n is wildly suspicious of Iris and her motivations: how did she become a system? Does she have a physical body? Did she also transmigrate? Or is this all just some inexplicable law of the universe? His own arrival here may be pure coincidence. Iris hasn't appeared for nearly two weeks since his transmigration, which only strengthens his suspicion that she isn't directly aligned with his reason for being here.

Perhaps she is acting out of selfish motives. But that's just a theory. Most likely, she's telling the truth. How else explain her powers?

Iris has her hidden reasons for wanting him to disrupt the game routes. Y/n won't dwell on that now — he has far more pressing matters.

And speaking of pressing matters, Angelina walks in.

"How was your day?" Y/n is glad for something else to focus on. "Anything interesting happen? Did you get the academy books  and uniform like you were supposed to?"

Angelina nods; her face is aglow with excitement. Y/n can't help but notice — reluctantly — that this is the face of a young woman who has met a potential lover.

"Yes. Something unexpected happened. I met a knight," she says dreamily. "He was such a gentleman. He seemed so pleased when I..."

"Let me guess," Y/n deadpans, "you bought a sword for him."

Her eyes sparkle. "Yes! Precisely! How did you know?"

Because this all follows the game.

"Just a guess. What else could a knight need?" Y/n frowns. "But you haven't answered my other question — are you ready for the academy? Today is just the welcome ceremony. You don't need your uniform."

Because I sure am not.

"Yes! I can't wait to meet the nobles. Lady Trina sounds lovely, and so smart! And Lady Veronica...Livio?"

Angelina falters as she notices Y/n's lack of enthusiasm. "Are you okay, Brother?" She's furrowing her eyebrows, which isn't a good sign, because Angelina never furrows her eyebrows. "You seem off, Livio."

Y/n forces a smile that feels like it's melting off his face. "I'm fine — tired, I suppose. But I'm happy for you; that all sounds wonderful. Especially that knight part. Must have been a great experience. I mean, it's not every day you just see..."
