Season 1 Episode 4

Ameka POV

"Are you the Jackson Stone?" I inquired, knowingly. I simply wanted to make sure. Approaching the desk, the slender woman started to arrange her belongings.

"Yeah."

"My name is Ameka Dungeon."

"What?" she inquired.

"My name, I believed you didn't know what it was."

"Oh, sure." She was close behind. She appeared to be preoccupied. She's been busy since she walked into the room. I was just curious if I had gotten the job. I couldn't take seeing or even knowing that someone else got the job. I doubt I needed a degree in child care, even if I have one.

"Does the interview begin now?" I inquired.

"Uhm..." She sighed, rotating around, her buttock pressing on the desk. "There will be no interview. You have no competition because few girls want to do this profession."

This twenty thousand bucks a month was readily flowing to me, and I couldn't contain my enthusiasm.

"Really!" I laughed.

"Shh." She chuckled. "It's all yours. I'll introduce you to Lily tomorrow. I will say, she's not the uhm..."

"She's a pampered brat, but I can deal with her."

"I was going to say calm and perceptive." She muttered. "But she can be disruptive at times, I suppose."

"I'm sorry...it's just that I was a bit bratty as a kid and—"

"Every child does. As a result, few people desire to be involved with the work." Lily couldn't possibly be that horrible. I read that she is nine years old and enjoys drawing and reading. To me, she appeared to be a typical youngster.

"Only one child?" I inquired. I was looking for further information to see whether they had another kid, but it appears that they did not. With a house this size, I expected to be caring for at least five children. I doubt twenty thousand would be sufficient to do it.

"Well, my wife is no longer alive, therefore I won't be having any more children. Now we need to talk about Lily a little more." She leapt over the fact that her wife had died. Not coming back to life.

"You don't have to; I've got the paper right here." I pointed to my bags and replied. The paper was sandwiched between my phone and a shredded chocolate bar packaging.

"That's basically a simple, daily occurrence. I'd like to become more technical." She motioned to the chair as she walked around to her desk, inviting me to have a seat.

My heart thumped as I approached the chair carefully. I would resign immediately if Lily saw her deceased mother anywhere in this fucking house.

I'll work hard to locate another employment. For twenty thousand dollars, I will only go so far. I sat down facing her. I could see every aspect of her face since we were so close. The drapes bangs that complemented her box shape face, her piercing ebony eyes with dark purple base, her pinched jawline that matched her small, pale lips. She was a sight to behold.

"I want her to learn about her Victorian heritage." My gaze was fixed on her lips. Despite my distracted thoughts, I could feel her gaze on me. My gaze travels across her dark, Gothic, black outfit.

"Can you explain, please?"

"There will be no social media. Nothing from the outside world. No food. No books, I'm not aware of. Nothing. I want her to be grounded in reality."
