Season 1 Episode 17
Meka POV
Stepping inside Lily's room felt odd. There was not a single toy found. There was simply dust on the furniture, so there was no mess. This child appeared to be an adult living in a child's body. But I doubt she wanted to live this odd existence. She have no television. No laptop. No phones. She does not consume sweets. She doesn't play. She draws, but it's always about murdering someone. The kid was gradually turning into a psychopath and a sociopath, even though I wasn't a licensed child therapist.
"Jackson instructed me to provide you with these cleaning products." Kamila murmured, giving me a distant grin. She irritates me.
But I pushed myself to engage in a discussion with her. Worse, I had no idea why I couldn't bear the girl I had wanted to be friends with only a few days before.
She was clingy with Jackson, and I couldn't understand why she wanted to be so close to a sad widow. It felt completely unlawful. It appeared like some type of affair was taking place.
"Thanks." I said as I took the dust cloth and broom from her. "Kamila..."
"Yeah."
"Can you tell me about what occurred this morning?" I inquired. "Lily told me what took place, and I simply want to hear what everyone side of the story." Jackson was clearly not going to tell me her point of view because, first and foremost, she was my boss, and secondly, being in her company made me feel so little, almost as if I were a child, like Lily.
"As you can see, Lily doesn't really like me, so I've been trying to win her over. You know, we could..." She faded off, possibly because she didn't want me to find out she was sleeping with a widower. Which I already know. I had a feeling something was going on around here. This house is full with mysteries, and I can feel it.
I couldn't help but wonder when she started sleeping with Jackson. I didn't want to get caught sniffing about the pot.
"Lily is only a child. She's not meant to like you."
"She loves you. She only speaks about you. She seldom ever speaks to any of us. She sees a lot in you that none of us have."
"It's only a matter of time before Lily sees me as a normal fish in the sea." I was a new face, which children enjoy. Kids also disliked it when adults other than their parents dominated their lives. I know this since I was a child.
"You just have to know what you're up against." I attempted to give her some guidance. "Stop being so tense."
"Well, we're two different people, personalities. But I figured she'd grow on me with time." After saying this, she turned away. I was left alone to clean. As I glanced about, it occurred to me that she could have a photo album of her deceased mother. Every child has one. I recalled having one and occasionally looking through it.
I dart out of the room, glancing up and down. I was looking for Jackson in particular. She was constantly present. I closed the door carefully and clicked it shut.
My attention was pulled to her drawers. Because the house was so old, she didn't have a wall closet, but rather one made of fine-textured wood.
I swiftly opened the drawer, my hand rummaging among the piles of clothing. I noticed she mainly wore dark hues. Colors such as black, scarlet, purple, and dark blue are examples. No pink. No yellow. No orange.
What the fuck!
I ran to the closet, flinging open the door. On the hooks were just dark-colored garments. I looked in the gaps. I search on top of the closet. Nothing. There was no trace of a picture album.
