Season 1 Episode 9
Meka POV
"Do you know where your mother goes to eat?" We've been waiting for her mother to enter the kitchen for quite some time. But it seemed like an eternity. Lily had little to eat. For a toddler her age, more than a couple nibbles of fruits can only go so far. I know she's hungry, but they don't have any bread or cheese. There's nothing here to prepare a fast sandwich. Nothing but veggies. Lily appears to be a goat rather than a person.
"My!" Lucinda's astonished voice spoke out. She put her hand to her chest. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Waiting for lunch?" I deadpanned.
"Mrs. Stones has been waiting for you for the past hour."
"And you didn't think to come here an hour ago." I grumbled. Since we didn't see anyone entering the kitchen, I questioned how lunch was made. Strange.
"I told you, where to meet for lunch."
"No, you did not."
"I did."
"Lucinda, please take us to my mother." Lily snarled. Lucinda scowled. It was evident that there was some sort of deception going on between the maids and workers and Lily. And although I might sound immature at this pleasant moment. But I was here for it all.
"All right, let's go." The elderly lady muttered.
We followed her into what appeared to be the backyard, and I immediately desired to return inside. I was not at peace with nature. Bugs, butterflies, and worms irritate me.
They made my skin crawl, and with all the flowers and trees around us, I knew all those insects weren't far away.
We continued walking till we came upon the slender woman seated at the big table. "So they've got a dining table in the middle of nature. How wealthy." I mumbled, entirely disinterested in the arrangement. The table was draped with a nice white tablecloth. There was a feast of food at the table. However, when I drew closer, the cuisine turned me off.
Lily dashed over to her mother. Jackson swung her onto her lap. Looking at it now, Jackson appears to be a daddy. The bags beneath her eyes appeared to have gradually dissolved.
Maybe I caught her while she was just waking up. If that's the case, she looks stunning when she's just rolled out of bed.
"See mommy. She's real. Look." Lily stated. When I watched Jackson throw Lily off her lap, my eyes widened.
"Enough with the foolishness. She's no longer alive."
Lily's lips were pursed, her little arms crossed across her chest, and she swayed side to side. I couldn't help but laugh.
Lucinda gave me a cold stare. "It's adorable."
"Spoil brats are not adorable. They should face consequences."
"Did you ever discipline your children when they were younger?" I inquired of the wrinkled-faced lady.
"I do. That is why they have been so successful." Her eyes squinted at me. I sighed and rolled my eyes. When she deadpanned on the fact that her children were successful, I had no idea what she was proposing.
"But you're still a maid? It's obvious they didn't share the success with you."
"I like to earn my own money."
"Do you?" I inquired as I walked away, leaving her dazed. I'm certain that once I achieve success, Jackie and Patterson won't even receive a second glance from me.
