Chapter 3
Honesty
I woke up the next morning ready to head back out and hit the pavement. I got outta "bed" and got dressed, I walked up the steps to see some random nigga in the kitchen. I stood there waiting for him to turn around.
"Oh shit!" He yelled startled by me standing behind him
I rolled my eyes moving past him not even bothering to speak.
"You must be the daughter?" He questioned
"And you must be X." I chuckled
"X?" He wore a confused look on his face
"Yeah X as in, you won't be here long so your actual name doesn't matter." I laughed grabbing something to drink and ignoring the stupid expression that was etched across his face.
"I see you've met my man." My mother came walking into the kitchen wearing a robe that barely covered anything.
I scrunched my face up in disgust.
"Tyler this is Honesty, my daughter I was telling you about, and Honesty this is Tyler my new man he's gonna be around here a lot more often so get used to it." She shrugged opening the refrigerator to cook breakfast.
I peeked inside to it packed out.
"You bought food?" I asked her as she took out bacon, eggs, and biscuits
"Tyler did." She looked at him and smiled
"Oh well since you cooking breakfast." I sat down at the counter
"Girl I ain't cooking shit for you, there's cereal in the cabinet." She mugged me
I rolled my eyes and made myself a bowl of cereal. X busted out laughing, I don't know what he thought was funny cuz she only keeping him around for his money and I'm pretty sure within 2 months time he'll be gone just like the rest of them. I finished my food grabbed my house keys and walked outside.
"Aye." I heard from behind me
I spun around to see the last person I expected to see ever again King.
"What ya want?" I asked surprised
"I been looking for you, hop in." He chuckled
I raised my eyebrow skeptically.
"Come on I ain't goin hurt you." He smirked
Against my better judgment I hopped in.
"How you know what building I stay in?" I asked the second my ass touched the smooth seats
"I didn't I was actually riding around hoping I would spot you and look." He pointed at me
"Why was you looking for me?"
"I was thinking about yesterday, when I saw you, you was leaving that grocery store but you didn't have any bags and here you are today just walking."
"And?" I wanted him to get to the point
"So what was you doing yesterday and today?"
"Looking for a job." I replied in a duh tone
"How old are you?"
"18" I squinted my eyes at him.
"If you want to make money I can put you on." He simply replied
"Doing what?" I wondered
3 years later
I sat in the dingy run down motel counting my money for the night.
"551, 552, 553 and 554." I finished it off wrapping it in rubber band stacks.
