Chapter 9 Welcome to Wave

After her time ended with Kakashi she had spent the last week over seeing the start of the new academies construction and her plans in the Chunin exams. Now she was sat in her clan home doing some paper work when a ninja wearing a red mask with a small mark at the top of the mask appeared before her and fell to one knee bowing before her. "My lady you summoned me?" The plain masked Anbu said while not raising his head. "Yes thank you for coming quickly I have a large job for the root program as a whole, I will be refocusing the efforts of root outside of the village, I want root to start building networks of information disguised as brothels and bars in the other 4 hidden villages, I want to start building a spy network I can control." Maria sits back crossing her leg over the other and bringing her hands down to rest on them. "It will be done but what of Jiraiya's spy network my lady?" Maria moved and picked out a folder containing information her summons had not long brought her, "I plan to bring Jiraiya back into the village when I'm officially Hokage and have him focus his efforts within the walls of Konoha to prevent corruption from spouting again like it has in the past, while you set up in Sunagakure keep an eye on the Kazekage, with the desperate position they're in at the moment their not exactly the most sound ally to have." With that the red masked root leader disappeared leaving Maria to her thoughts, not before confirming he understood his orders. Maria looked down at the folder she was holding with the name Kabuto Yakushi on the front and frowned, "A snake in the open is easy prey, your move Orochimaru."

*TWO WEEKS LATER*

"How is the network coming along." Came the soft voice of Maria who currently sat behind her desk. "Preparations are set, we are ready to start fishing and building a web." said a voice behind a familiar red mask. The conversation however was soon interrupted by a tapping at her window. When she looked over she saw it was a messenger hawk, she gestured for the root anbu to grab the scroll. The red masked root member did as asked and soon passed the scroll to Maria, she looked it over thoroughly and then closed the scroll before burning it. "It seems I will have to cut this meeting short as the Hokage has summoned me, keep up with what you've been doing and report anything back concerning either Tsunade or Orochimaru, your dismissed." The red masked anbu bowed and disappeared.

Hiruzen was looking over a troubling report, he had sent team 7 on their first c-rank mission and now they had encountered the demon brothers both c rank missing nin and Kakashi predicts stronger opponents ahead. He only had one person he knew could get to them fast enough but she was busy, Hiruzen decided to send out a summons and see what she would decide to do.

It didn't take long for Maria to reach the Hokage's door, as she was about to knock she heard a gruff voice telling her to come in. Maria opened the door and immediately picked up on the tense atmosphere, "you summoned me Lord Hokage." Maria stepped forward after closing the door and sat down in front of the big wooden desk. "Yes and thank you for coming so quickly, just recently I sent team 7 on their first c-rank mission and unfortunately it seems the person who requested the mission lied to us about the difficulty due to not being able to pay the full amount and as such team 7 have encountered harsher resistance than what was expected, I need you to hurry over and assist them before something bad happens." Maria nods accepting the scroll Hiruzen held out. "Shame this would've been some good experience for the Uzumaki team but I'm just as happy to leave on my own." Hiruzen nods, "Yes the hidden grass village requested a seals master look over their jinchurikis seal." Maria turns and walks towards the door, "Very well I will leave immediately, I'll leave a reinforced clone to carry on my duties here." With everything said Maria leaves the Hokage's office and makes her way out of the village.

Kakashi was sitting down at a campsite with his client and team, after meeting the demon brothers he had sent out a request for help he just hoped they would come soon as he had a bad feeling about this, he looked over his team Sai looked in different, Sasuke looked motivated but he sighed when he looked over at his last student she should never have been on this mission, she looked scared and a complete mess he would need to have a talk with Sakura. "Alright team we need to rest hopefully when we wake up our backup will have arrived, I will take first watch, Sasuke will take the second watch, Sai will take last watch." Sakura sulked knowing her freezing up in the last attack has now made her a burden to the team. Each member went to their respected tents to get as much rest as they could.
