Part 11 Freedom at last

On the other side of wave a huge mansion that once belonged to the daimyo of wave stood silently, bandits walked around the land protecting their benefactor. What they didn't know was the specialised root Anbu silently and quickly moving across the grounds eliminating them one at a time, none of them would be alerted the root shinobi were just too well trained. 

Gato, a short man with a cocky attitude sat at his desk without a care in the world. He was on a power high right now, why wouldn't he be. The daimyo gave him everything, he practically owns the island now, he has enough riches to last him several life times, he had women he could choose from whenever he pleased and not too mention the army of bandits that surrounded his mansion.

Despite everything no one saw the root shinobi clearing the grounds of all the bandits setting free whatever people they could, they had orders to accomplish and nothing was going to get in their way. Two samurai walked into the office of Gato with urgency, "Gato we have a problem." The small man who had been relaxing and smoking one of his expensive cigars shot up immediately at the interruption.

"What do you two want now cant you see I'm trying to relax here." The two samurai ignored his words and walked up to his desk, "Gato Zabuza and his accomplice have been slain." The small man froze, "Who killed them?" The samurai who was speaking just shook his head, "Were not sure, we discovered two graves which they were buried in although Zabuza's sword was missing." Gato sat back down slowly, "find out who did it, whoever killed them could make an exceptional bodyguard." Gato says while messing around with a coin. "What if they say no?" The second samurai asks. "Everyone has a price." Gato replies with a smirk. "Luckily our Lady is beyond such bribery." A voice comes from behind him.

Gato felt a thump and his vision started going black, the last thing he saw was his samurai being cut down by three people with blank masks. The root member who knocked out Gato turned towards the other, "I'll take this one to Lady Maria dispose of everything and take anything valuable, then burn the building down." The other members just nodded and moved to finish up. The root member next to Gato picked him up and disappeared ready to report to his leader.

Maria after having left Sakura's room made her way to the living room, the rest of the houses residents had gone to bed leaving only her awake awaiting the results of her root shinobis mission. She pulled out a book to help pass the time, some silly romance story that had caught her attention during her travels. Using her sensing abilities she knew what was happening across the island and knew she had a bit of time to indulge in the book. Nearly three hours had passed and she finally put her book away, her focus was set just in front of her where an root Anbu suddenly appeared holding a very unconscious tiny, fat man. "My Lady the mission was a success and I have the target alive." Maria stood and walked over to the bound unconscious man, "Very good. follow me and bring him." 

Maria opened a door that led to the basement and aloud the root shinobi to pass with the small man, as she moved in she set up powerful silencing seals separating the rest of the house from the basement. Maria walked over to the centre of the basement where Gato had been strapped and bound to a chair, she placed her finger on the forehead of the man and pushed a small pulse of chakra into his head jolting him awake. "What the hell? where am I? And where are those two idiots." He panicked looking everywhere, the root shinobi stood behind him grabbed his head and forced him to look at Maria. "Good evening, I assume your wandering what's happening." Gato looked at her with terror, "Who are you?" Maria smiled down to the small man, "I am Lady Maria otherwise known as The Huntress." Gato who was scared was practically having a panic attack now, he knew who she was he doubted their wasn't someone who didn't. "Your the person who killed Zabuza and his accomplice," "I believe his name was Haku." Maria replied quickly. 

"Now then Gato please sign here." Maria held out her hand producing a piece of paper that looked a lot like a contract and a pen to write with. Gato looked over the contract and furrowed his brow, "You must be insane if you think I will hand everything to that bridge builder." Maria sighed, "I had hoped it wouldn't come to this." She walked over and flames danced around her hand as if the very nature of fire bent to her will. She approached the now sweating man, "Until you sign this I will burn you.. slowly." Gato was now terrified, he didn't do well with pain. "Please stop, wait we can come to an arrangement, if you work for me I can give you anything you want." Maria placed a finger on the side of his head above his eyebrow and ran it down the side of his face slowly, the skin beneath bubbled and burnt badly causing Gato to scream in agony. "What I want is for wave to see freedom, to be free of you."
