I really had no idea what to do. So I just said: "Just make yourself at home" As soon as I had said it, Ryder smiled and went to the kitchen, where he just stood in the middle of it looking a bit lost. Especially in his dirty soccer clothes. He opened a few of the cabinets but didn't seem like he found what he was looking for. Maybe you should help him, Bree?

"What are you looking after?" I asked. He turned around. "I have no idea where you keep the glasses, I wanted a glass of water". I stepped into the kitchen, walked towards the cupboard with all of our glasses and cups, and took one out. Then I filled it with water and handed it to him. "Thanks" he said and gulped the water down at once. I didn't even have time to blink before he had finished it. I filled it with water again, because I was closest to the sink and gave him the glass back. He gulped it down at once again. We repeated it one more time before I shot him a confused look.

"Is that even healthy?"

"What, water? I think it's one of the healthiest things you can get your hands on" he chuckled.

"..."

"..."

"I meant drinking so much water at once, that fast."

He laughed. "Well, after the soccer practice you can't blame me. Man, it's been so long since I last played it" he said and closed his eyes for a moment seeming to be lost in his thoughts.

I was curious. "Did you play a lot?"

He smiled and his dimple appeared on his cheek. "Yeah, I played every day and my day was literally divided between school, food, books and soccer. I met almost all of my friends through something soccer-related."

Then I remembered that he had told me it had been a long time since he last played and that he used past tense when talking about soccer. I didn't even think before asking: "But why did you stop?"

A fleeting look of sadness and then panic crossed his face but it was gone in an instant. "That's a long story, Pretty Girl, one that I won't bore you with now" he said, smiling slightly.

There was something he didn't want to tell me, and even though I was really curious I didn't want to ask him something he was uncomfortable answering.

"Yeah, I also have better things in my life to do than hear a boring story" I replied.

Ryder stepped forward and suddenly we were very close. My eyes widened. I could practically feel the warmth radiating from his body and I had to crane my neck a bit to look at his face instead of the place between his chest and throat. He lifted his hand and reached forward – no, he reached for something beside me. I followed his hand with my gaze and saw it grabbing the glass I earlier had put on the counter top. Then, with the same hand, he opened the water tap and filled the glass with water. He closed it and slowly brought his hand back. His green eyes held mine for a second longer before he took a step back and drank the water, his adam's apple very much visible and sharp.

He put the glass back on the counter top and smirked. "Refreshing". I didn't know what to say – my mind had gone blank for a second.

"Hey, is it okay if I shower?"

The second of "blankness" was gone and I replied, as if his little act hadn't affected me.

"Upstairs, first door on the right side." I pointed towards the stairs in the hallway behind him He nodded and was about to turn around, when I said: "Hey, don't you make the bathroom all messy because of your dirty body"

When I realized what I had said I could feel my cheeks burning.

Did I just say "dirty body"?!

That's not what I had meant to say – I was merely talking about, you know, all the dirt he had on his body after playing soccer on a half-muddy grass field.

Ryder laughed while he walked up the stairs to the bathroom.
