Chapter 7: The Heist

The next morning Caroline woke up, the events of last night slightly hazy, she walked into the living room where she found Elizabeth sleeping on the couch, Caroline carefully placed a nearby blanket and covered Elizabeth before going and making some breakfast and looking through Emily's journal.

"Uh what time is it?" Elizabeth said groggily as she sat up "Caroline why am I on your couch?" Elizabeth stood up and went to make some coffee and sat down with Caroline.  Caroline was concentrated on reading the journal that she didn't notice Elizabeth place her hand on Caroline's.  "Elizabeth what happens when we defeat Basilisk because I can't go home, my mother made pretty clear when she found Amelia in my bed that she wants nothing to do with me?" Caroline said tears starting to fall down her cheek "ever since Sarah eloped and they cut her off I've had to be seen as the perfect daughter" Elizabeth pulled Caroline in for a hug "Caroline I promise when we defeat basilisk I will do whatever it takes to make your parents see you for you are and if they don't well then you can join AEGIS, all of this is your anyways, Emily built all this so the next daughter of Fire would be safe" Elizabeth says before attempting to kiss Caroline.  "Whoa I'm sorry Elizabeth but we're friends but I'm still in love with Amelia, we're soul mates" Caroline said grabbing the journal and leaving the room.

A few laters had passed and Caroline returned to her quarters from training, she went to take a warm shower when she noticed the garment bag hanging on the closet, Caroline picked up the note on her nightstand "The tailor dropped this off when you were gone, you dress for tonight, he sewed a light ballistic weave into the fabric so the dress is effectively bullet proof just you'll definitely feel the impact so be careful, and I'm sorry about earlier-Elizabeth" Caroline set the note down and went to take a shower, after which she changed into her dress and had Elizabeth come by to help with her hair.

After getting ready the girls made their way to the helicopter "alright so your mission is get the amulet, and get to the extraction point and don't get caught, we'll have a strike team ready for backup" the director said as the girls boarded the helicopter which flew them to a Denver heliport, after which they boarded a blacked out SUV to drive to the museum.

As the SUV pulled up to the museum the driver, an AEGIS officer handed the girls their invitations the girls then got out and started walking up the steps of the museum building, "Tickets lady's?" A security officer said, the girls handed their invitations and proceeded inside.
"Alright Caroline spread out and stay on comms we need to find the amulet, wait shit what's he doing here?" Amelia said looking at an older man talking with the curator and several politicians.  "Who's that Elizabeth?" Caroline said confused, "That's Dr. Baron Von Klaus owner of one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world and the son of Heinrich Von Klaus, what's he doing here?" Elizabeth quickly radioed it in before going to mingle in the party.

Caroline started walking around the museum looking for the amulet which brought her to a crowed room and in the center sat a glass case containing the amulet that Caroline saw in her dream "Elizabeth I've found the amulet problem it's surrounded by all kinds of guests" Caroline said over the comms, "Shit alright let me think, the curator will want to give a speech in a few minutes so we wait till then" Elizabeth said over comms.  Caroline grabbed a glass of champagne and had a drink "Excuse me ma'am?" A man said in English but a very clear Bavarian accent Caroline turned around "oh I'm sorry what is it?" The man looked her over "your eyes and skin complexion tell me your not from around here, let me guess New England?" Caroline smiled "No actually, I'm Victoria Hernandez, Spanish actually me and my sister Alexandra Hernandez are actually here as we are potential donors", the man smiled "Miss Hernandez please follow me" Caroline followed the man to an area overlooking the party "do you see those men, they work for me, now I ask you do you know who I am?" The man said clearly getting angry.
"Uh I'm afraid not" Caroline said taking another sip of champagne.  The man calmed himself "My name is Baron Von Klaus II and that old man down there talking with your sister, that's my father, and that amulet is mine."  Baron Von Klaus II said slightly angry "uh I had no interest in the amulet, it looks fake anyway."  Just as Von Klaus II was gonna say something the curator called everyone down to the main hall, Caroline used the commotion to slip back to the amulet.

"Alright Elizabeth I'm back at the case, everyone is gone talk me through this" Caroline said calming her nerves "Alright grab the propellant torch from her bag and carefully place it on the glass and slowly turn it counter clockwise" Elizabeth said over comms.  "Wait what about alarms?" Caroline said concerned,  "Already taken care of." Caroline carefully cut up open the glass taking care go slow and counter clockwise.  Suddenly a security guard walked into the room from a side door "hey stop right there, hands up, command I've got a woman in a red dress trying steal the amulet requesting backup", Caroline closed her eyes and quickly turned blasted the guard with a ball of fire knocking him to the ground, afterwards Caroline went back to work, quietly burning through able to grab the amulet, as she turned to run as an evacuation was underway after the security guards order was reached by the police, when suddenly she is stopped by Baron Von Klaus II "I know you have the amulet so hand it over, I will not ask again" suddenly Caroline was surrounded by elite basilisk security "To bad, this is my birthright" Caroline said as she put the amulet on and suddenly transformed into a being of pure fire wearing a flaming gown.
