Chapter 12: The Endgame

Dr. Von Klaus walked onto a stage, the crowd of Thousands of basilisk soldiers echoing throughout the auditorium, all dressed in Black uniforms stood facing the stage as their leader walked out towards a podium, on his right stood his son and heir to his throne of Basilisk, Baron Von Klaus II and on his left stood Zoe Carter in her black combat uniform and her blonde hair in a braid. Dr. Von Klaus tapped the microphone and began speaking, "Today we begin Project Omega, with our enemies in AEGIS dealt with there is no one that can stand in the way of Basilisks rise to power. Many years ago my father Heinrich Von Klaus after the war became disillusioned with his former affiliation and believed only through Basilisk could we return our world to greatness and today his dream is finally realized, Hail Basilisk." Dr. Von Klaus said raising a fist which was followed by his son and Zoe and then the soldiers in the crowd, HAIL BASILISK the crowd shouted before Dr. Von Klaus, his son and Zoe turned and left.
"Zoe I want you overseeing Project Omega, you have come a long way from that scared girl who left her father behind and I'm so proud" Zoe shook hands with Dr. Von Klaus and headed towards the command center, "My son, it is time for you to truly take the mantle of Basilisk" Dr. Von Klaus said leading his son down to a lab.

Meanwhile Caroline and Elizabeth took down two Basilisk guards and quickly donned their uniforms before the Director and Albert came out of the woods, "Alright Director we'll cuff you and that should be our ticket inside, once in Caroline will find out what exactly Project Omega is and stop it, I'll find Zoe and stop her, Albert will be out here providing information about the base and secure our extraction" Elizabeth said placing the cuffs on the director. Albert walked over to Caroline who was putting on her Balaclava, "Caroline I'm not gonna let this go unsaid" Albert said pulling Caroline in for a kiss, Caroline didn't even try to stop it she just closed her eyes and enjoyed every moment she was with Albert. "Caroline after this is over, whatever comes next I will always love you" Albert said pulling away.

After they were all set Caroline and Elizabeth walked into the base before being stopped upon entering by 2 soldiers "Halt, who's this?" One of the soldiers said with his rifle at attention, before Caroline could respond she heard a voice she didn't want to hear as she saw Amelia walk towards them in a black combat suit, similar to the one Zoe wore in Seattle. "This is Director Carter, the leader of the terrorist organization AEGIS, responsible for kidnapping the love of my life, you there" Amelia said pointing towards Elizabeth "take the prisoner to Detention level B5 I'm sure Zoe would love to see her father again". After splitting up Caroline made her way to the security room to find Project Omega, upon entering the room she quickly dispatched the 2 guards in the room and began routing security footage to Albert who began scanning cameras before finding Project Omega on sub level B12 and so Caroline began making her way down.

Elizabeth walked the Director into the detention room and un cuffed him but before they could plan an escape Amelia walked into the room "Agent Moore do you honestly think I didn't know that was you and Caroline sneaking in?" Amelia said as 3 Basilisk operators emerged from optical camouflage and aimed rifles, "I had a feeling you two would try this is why Caroline is headed into a trap and I get my revenge" Amelia said flinging a knife into the chest of the director causing him to collapse to the floor, Elizabeth in response ran around the table to take down the soldiers but their stealth camouflage made fighting them difficult, this was also combined with Amelia drawing 2 Karambit knives trying to swipe At Elizabeth.
Meanwhile Caroline arrived at Sub Level B12, "Albert I'm in the room but it's empty, there's nothing here it's like an old warehouse level?" Suddenly the lights were cut and electrical charged whip ignited which was the only thing in the room before the lights kicked back on, "Caroline Williams we have some unfinished business to take care of" Zoe said as she slowly approached Caroline, Caroline felt her powers grow as flames started rising around her and her hair started turning to pure primordial fire and her eyes became fire "I won't let Project Omega succeed" Caroline said as she ran towards Zoe flinging a flaming whip around Zoe's legs, but Zoe swung and knocked Caroline into the wall, "Caroline you don't fully understand Project Omega, it's the key that will save our world" Zoe said punching Caroline in the face, Caroline unleashed a massive fire explosion sending Zoe flying back and the girls continued their battle, each other exchanging blows unable to truly defeat the other.

Back in the detention level Amelia and Elizabeth continued their battle as Elizabeth gracefully avoided Amelia's swings, finally though she managed to trip up Amelia and grabbed a knife and stabbed Amelia in the chest, Amelia made her way to the wall and collapsed against it "Well you killed me and now Caroline will never forgive you, we're soulmates and meant to be together" Amelia said starting to cough up blood "No Amelia she will forgive me because after what you did to her sister she would have done the same thing" Elizabeth said standing up and running to the directors side "hey stay with me Director it's gonna be ok, Albert I need medical assistance the director has been stabbed" but no response as their comms were being jammed "Elizabeth I'm sorry, carry on my legacy, carry on the legacy of AEGIS and Elizabeth you were like a daughter to me, after I lost Zoe you were like a second chance at being a father and I'm so proud of the woman you've become" the director said as he slipped out of consciousness, "no please don't go Director please stay with me" Elizabeth said as tears fell down her face, in this moment Ice crystals started appearing around her hands as Elizabeth mourned the directors death.

Back down in the warehouse Zoe and Caroline, 2 equally matched warriors continued their duel when Zoe stopped and cloaked and made her escape but not before she would say one last thing "we'll meet again soon Caroline don't worry and next time you won't get the best of me" Zoe said before disappearing.
Caroline made her way back up the elevator but this time came across a fancy office, at the desk in the center of the room sat an old man, the man looked very old "ah you've finally made your way to me though I would have loved for it to be under better circumstances, but please have a seat" the man said gesturing to the seat in front of the desk as he stood up and went to pour a glass of whiskey, "Tell me Caroline what is it you think Project Omega is?" The man said handing her a glass and sitting back down. "Uh controlling the population?" The man laughed "no my dear, it's about restoring order, many years ago their was a man by the name of Basilisk he was an Assyrian Warlord and his people respected him and many worshipped him those would be the first ones to found this organization, Basilisk had brought balance and peace to the world but he was betrayed by his wife a woman by the name of Duranmir the same woman you wear the amulet of, she betrayed her husband and destroyed him but his cult would continue his legacy and your ancestor would be seen as an enemy at least until a point where the Daughter of Fire and The new Basilisk would be Wed and this world would finally be at peace where there would be no war, no strife and no death so think about this Caroline, are you going to kill a defenseless old man or are you going to join us and bring peace to the world?" Dr. Von Klaus said gesturing to a gun. Caroline stood up and grabbed the gun and shot Dr. Von Klaus in the head, afterwards Caroline downloaded everything on Project Omega including a security tape of Baron Von Klaus II being injected with a strange substance that came from an ancient coffin with machines hooked up, Caroline in disgust activated the self destruct sequence and made her way back to Elizabeth as they made their way out of the base just as it exploded.

3 weeks later, Caroline sat in a car with Albert and Elizabeth "are you sure about this Caroline?" Albert said holding Caroline's hand, Caroline looked at Albert and then at her parents house, "yeah I need to do this" Caroline climbed out of the SUV and walked up the front door and rang the doorbell, Roger answered the door and when he saw Caroline a look a happiness came across his face "Susan look who's at the door?" Roger said as Caroline walked inside to see her mother "hey mom" Susan had tears falling down her face as she went in for a hug "I'm sorry for everything Caroline" Caroline hugged back "I know you are mom and I'm sorry for everything".
