★ 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐰𝐨 : 𝐀𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 ★

𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐏𝐎𝐕

Y/n was silently waiting outside of her apartment's building, packed bags at her feet. She was on her phone, glancing up from time to time. The sunrise was as beautiful as it was each morning.

"6:19, I hope they will be here soon."

Every minute felt like an eternity to y/n. Her feet tapped quickly against the concrete sidewalk, out of anxiety.

"6:23... Was it just a bad prank? I'll go back inside, I guess..." She sighed, reaching out to grab her bag. Her ears suddenly capted a gentle "vroom" sound. She perked her head up, noticing an incoming black vehicle. As it approached, y/n noticed how it looked really luxurious. It parked right in front of her and two people got out of the car. It was a woman and a man that both seemed to be in their early 30s. They were both wearing a classic black tuxedo with black fumed glasses, the woman's black hair into a high ponytail and the man's light brown hair slicked back.

"Are you Miss y/n l/n?"

Y/n nodded her head answering the other woman with a simple "Yes."

"Let me grab those bags for you", she answered back, approaching slightly, the man following her.

"Oh, uh... Thank you... Miss and Mister?" Y/n said as the two others grabbed all of her bags.

"You can call me Lorelei", she said turning her head to y/n, giving her a slight smile.

"And my name's Bruce", said the man, keeping a straight face.

Y/n smiled and was about to open the door when Bruce slid before her and opened it for her. She gasped in surprise, but recomposed herself quickly. Y/n entered the car while Lorelei packed her belongings in the trunk and Bruce closed the door behind her.

Everything in the car felt rich. The seats were so soft and comfortable, there was so much space to move. There was even a built-in mini fridge between the two front seats, who were now occupied by the two drivers. The car roared softly as it moved forward, quickly gaining speed. Bruce turned around to look at y/n, his glasses reflecting her amazed expression.

"Miss l/n, did you want anything to drink on the way? It's going to be quite a long ride."

Y/n looked at Bruce with a questioning stare. She had not expected this question.

"Uh... Do you perhaps have coffee? I forgot to take it this morning."

"We have iced coffee, but not hot coffee. Will that do? "

"Yeah, it's fine", she answered while Bruce took out a can of iced coffee. "Thank you!"

"It is our pleasure."

Bruce searched in the car compartment in front of him, eventually taking something out and turning once more towards the new agent. He handed her a tablet and said:

"Every informations regarding the job is on there, I'd take a look at it if I were you."

He turned back towards the front, not saying another word. Y/n took a good look at the tablet, turning it around to reveal an untouched black screen. She tapped the screen and nothing happened. Confused, she felt around the rim of the tablet, finally finding a button. When clicking on it, the screen opened into a white interface with multiple categories to choose from. She scanned the titles, scrolling the page. She finally clicked on a category about the "First Light". It explained in great details the phenomenon and the appearance of radianite. "That's so interesting!" she tought.

During the ride, y/n went trough all the categories, learning multiple facts about the job. For instance, she had read that she would work in a team. It was exciting and kind of relieving, but also quite nerve-wracking. Y/n wondered about the people she was going to work with. Were they kind? She hoped they were. She was off to her imagination when Lorelei started talking to her, gaining the attention of the younger woman.

"We'll be arriving soon Miss l/n. I recommend that you get ready to leave the vehicule. We will accompagny you to Brimstone's office, and then leave you to his care", she said glancing briefly in the mirror towards her passenger.

Y/n muttered an "Okay" before she closed the tablet and gently put it down beside her. She stared outside of the window, multiple trees quickly passing by.

Minutes passed and the car finally slowed down. Y/n looked up from her phone. She was shocked to see such a huge villa. It was so beautiful and extravagant. It was all white with a big entryway. A gate was blocking their path and it slowly opened when Lorelei clicked a button of the car. The gentle roaring of the car stopped when they were right in front of the villa, its big pearly white doors staring at her. Bruce opened the door for y/n and Lorelei hurried to open the trunk for her bags. The young woman couldn't stop looking at the fancy house with amazement. "Is that where I'll be living? This is wonderful!"

The drivers got her back to reality when they closed the trunk, carrying the bags of the agent.

"We'll show you the way Miss l/n, follow us", said Bruce.

Y/n nodded and followed the drivers up the multiple stairs leading to the entrance. The doors opened by themselves, letting the three enter the villa. The inside was as beautiful as the outside was. It was all decorated and so, so giant. There were people passing by, and y/n could've swore that one guy seemed to recognize her, because his eyes shone when he met hers.

She turned away from the passing group when Lorelei talked to her. Y/n followed the drivers up the stairs and down a hallway. They all stopped in front of a big door. Lorelei and Bruce looked at her, the woman taking the lead by saying:

"Well that's where our job ends. We will go and put your bags in your room, which Brimstone will show you later. It was really nice meeting you and we hope you have a great experience at VALORANT Protocol."

They both nodded to y/n as a goodbye and left down the hallway. She was now facing the big door, her heart beating faster than ever before. That's when she'll finally be over with her old life. Taking a big breath, she knocked on the door and opened it right after. She was met with an alluring office, decorated with big shelves full of books and many exquisite paintings. Behind the desk near the window, a tall man was waiting for her. She recognized him immediatly; he was the one on the hologram. He smiled at her, both of his hands joined together and the desk.

"Welcome, y/n l/n. I was waiting for you."
