𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐎𝐕:

It had already been two weeks since I've begun my new training. I was working my hardest to try and overcome my flaws, and I could actually witness some improvements. I was faster, more precise and I'd sharpened my senses even more.

Sage was incredibly proud of me. She kept complimenting me and hyping me up. Our relationship had improved since and we were regularly eating lunch together.

Brimstone, on the other hand, I didn't know if he thought I did good or not. I never saw him when he would come out of his office, and, when he would, he barely spared a glance at me. I just hoped he wasn't mad at me.

I've been training often with Jett. Gekko would sometimes join us too. I've also started to be more open to the other members of the Protocol.  Not that I wasn't before, of course.

I was currently training, dodging and shooting bullets at robots. My count of defeated robots was at 52. I was relentlessly wiping them out as they appeared from every directions. I'd still received some bullets, one that stuck in my shoulder, another one that had grazed my cheek and another that was planted in my side. I peered over at where Sage stood, seeing the wide grin on her face. I turned back around at the sound of metallic footsteps, instantly crouching and aiming at its head, using one bullet to defeat it.

"53"

I stood in the middle of the arena with my Vandal in hand, walls blocking my vision. Other footsteps to my right. I headshot the robot once more.

"54"

To my left this time. I shot it in the chest, using 3 or 4 bullets after dodging the ones it shot at me.

"55"

Sage had told me that at 60 robots, we'd be done for the day, thank God. I turned around, faced with another one.

"56"

I was slowly getting tired and sloppier. We've been at it for the whole day, and training always left me exhausted. I defeated two robots that appeared at my left, using about 5 bullets and receiving one to the thigh. I winced at the pain.

"58"

I didn't have many left to defeat. I looked left and right, scanning my surroundings once more. I concentrated on my hearing, trying hard to locate the uncoming enemies. Their footsteps sounded faint and distant, coming from every angles. I stood in the middle of the arena, my gun clenched tightly in my hands. I spun around, my eyes darting to every open holes in the walls that surrounded me.

The sound of the footsteps became clearer and closer. Unfortunately, I was only managing to hear the sound of an only robot, as if the second one vanished. Still, I focused on the first robot, catching a glimpse of it in my peripheral vision. I pointed my gun at it and shot it down.

I barely had the time to pull the trigger that I heard a gunshot from behind me. Unluckily, I was too slow to get out of its way and received the bullet to my stomach.

"Agh!"

One of my hands quickly retreated to the now bleeding hole that punctured my stomach. I watched the robot lift its gun once more, pointing it directly at my head. My hand flew back to support my gun as I ducked, avoiding by an inch the robot's shot. I ran in its direction, staying low and, as I slid on my knees, I aimed at my enemy's head. I immediately pulled the trigger and blasted its head off.

"60," I counted out loud, releasing the breath I didn't realise I was holding.

I stood back up and dusted my clothes with the hand that wasn't holding my gun. Noticing slight movement around me, I shifted my gaze to my surroundings. The walls that once were solid were now glitching and disappearing, as if they were part of a video game. I watched in awe the last of the terrain vanishing into nothingness and leaving me in an abnormaly large and empty room.
