My heart rate was going crazy - on top of the fact that me and Charles were only a couple of inches apart, I also had no clue what he wanted to say to me. I watched as he took a deep breath in and slowly let it out. I was too nervous to say anything.
"I would have rather have done this back at the hotel." He complained and stepped back in a way that conveyed to me he was also feeling nervous. "But I guess this will have to do." He stepped back forwards again so we were once again super close. I stared directly into his chest, too scared too look up at him.
"Look Edom," The way he said my name - I don't think it will ever get old. "That night when you stayed in my room, in my bed, that was one of the best nights I've ever had." Surprise ran through me and I couldn't help but look up at him. His green eyes made contact with mine and I couldn't look away.
"I'm not joking." Charles could clearly read me well as he reassured me. "It might not have seemed it, but that morning I was trying to tell you how much I care for you, but I guess I didn't do a good job of making myself clear, so I want to do it now." He paused, as if waiting for a response but I was frozen, unsure to move or what to say.
"You may distract me on track, but that's because I care so much about you Edom, like no one else ever before. And that's not your fault because there's nothing you can do to change that. And you distract me off track because - well look at you - you're gorgeous Edom. And you're so resilient oh my god, you're so strong. I don't want that night to be the only ever morning I get to wake up and watch you sleep for a bit. I'll go about it however you want me to: we can try keep this private if you want, I can pretend to date someone else, I'll honestly do anything for you Edom - goddammit I'll stop racing for you if that's what you want, but I can't go on pretending to hate you anymore."
Before I could control myself, I leant up and kissed him lightly, letting my lips linger over his mouth. His confession had brought out the feelings for him I had been trying to bury for so long. I pulled back, but only slightly so our faces we less than an inch apart.
"I can't go on pretending either."
This time he closed the gap, smashing his lips to mine and backing me up against the door so my back was pressed against it. His hands ran up and down my body like he wanted to touch every bit of me and his lips hungrily ran down to my neck where he left small, light marks in wake of his trail.
"Charles" I gasped with a whisper and he suddenly pulled back.
"I don't want you calling me by last name anymore," He said. "You say my name the way God intended." Then his lips returned to mine.

We returned back to the dance floor 20 minutes later, my lips slightly aching. Charles led me by the hand into the middle of the dancefloor and we blended into the moving bodies all around us. With his hands on my waist, I leant my face back into the crook of his shoulder and I felt him kiss me softly on the head. I raised my arms up and cupped his face with my hands. I was suddenly interrupted by a voice boom out over the speaker "Edom, if you're here come back to the table now." It was Lando's voice.
"Oh shit I better go." I said sadly, turning to face Charles.
"Should I come with?" He asked. I hesitated as I felt bad saying no, but before I could come up with a response, Charles continued. "It's ok, we still need to figure this out, so how about when you get back from here you actually come to my room this time."
"Ok" I chuckled "Thank you Charles." He leant down and kissed me softly.
"Of course Edom." I walked off and he held on to my hands until the last moment, letting my fingers slide off his and he was swallowed by the crowd. I was still processing what had just unfolded as I reached the VIP section and was let in by the security.
"Where the fuck have you been Edom!" Lando exclaimed at me as I reached the table. "You left to get a snack and it's been nearly an hour - I thought something had happened to you."
"Sorry, I stayed at the bar for a bit," I half-lied.
"I went to the bar and the bartender said you were dragged off by some guy. I was shitting myself Edom." Lando rubbed his face.
"I'm so sorry Lando, they took our phones so I couldn't let you know." I tried to avoid the main subject.
"So where were you then?" George chimed in.
"I was just dancing." Still not quite a full lie.
Lando hummed then said "Ok, well you're not leaving my vision again."
"Yes sir," I saluted at him, them sat down next to Carlos.
I spoke with the table for a while until suddenly Kika and Carmen got up.
"Girl's toilet trip," They stated, looking at me, so I followed them to the loos.
"Ok what's going on." Carmen said as soon as the toilet door closed behind us.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You don't think we're as dumb as those boys out there do you Edom?" Kika laughed. "You weren't telling the whole story out there."
"I was." I decided it was best not to tell them. I still wasn't sure where me and Charles exactly stood and, considering I had told him I wanted to keep it a secret, it would be really unfair for me to then tell people.
"Come on Edom, tell us!" Carmen begged "We won't tell the boys." I was seriously tempted but held firm.
"Seriously girls, I wasn't lying. I went to the bar, had a snack then danced for ages. The music here is so good. Did you know Lando knows the DJ here?"
They sighed, then turned to the mirror to check their makeup. I felt bad, but was sure they believed me now. I joined them in checking myself in the mirror, my mind already back to Charles and I wasn't too sure how long I could wait until I got to see him again.
"I might go back soon." I told the girls.
"What, why?" exclaimed Kika.
"I'm exhausted from today's race and just want to get some sleep to be honest. I haven't been sleeping well this weekend." That wasn't exactly a lie. As per usual, I hadn't been sleeping well, although recently it was because my mind was so stuck on Charles. Kika knew about my sleeping issues, so her expression immediately changed.
"Of course Edom, that's understandable." She said kindly. "Go now, so we can tell the boys and you don't have to face their wrath."
"Thanks girls, you're honestly the best." I left the bathroom and snuck out the club. I hailed a taxi and gave them the address for my hotel, my mind on Charles the whole time.
