Chapter 25

After eventually getting back into my room I changed into some joggers, but I couldn't help keep his hoodie on. The smell of it on him was like a drug to me and I was too hooked to go without for now. 

My phone rang - the taxi driver was here to pick me up to take me to the airport so I quickly packed and went downstairs. Luckily I didn't see even a glimpse of Charles. I didn't want to think about the argument we had just had.

"Ok what the fuck." Rue's jaw was on the floor. For the past few days I had been moping around my house back in England and Rue didn't let it slide. She interrogated me until I spilled the beans on everything that had gone down with Charles. 

"Firstly, I'm offended I wasn't told this sooner," She said. I went to speak but she held up a hand, silencing me. "Secondly, Leclerc? The Charles Leclerc? The Leclerc you hate?" 

I nodded my head slowly. "I'm still a bit baffled about it too."

"Do you still hate him?"

"I don't know," I wailed 

"I know you pretty well Edom. Infact, extremely well. And no boy has ever had this effect on you. Also, no one sleep with a person they hate. No one Edom."

"We didn't have sex!" I exclaimed

"Babe, he fingered you and then you slept overnight together in the same bed."

"Ok, point proven."

"I think you really like him, but you know it will be extremely complicated with your careers."

"Maybe" I sighed. "At this point it's easier to not think about it." 

"Girl, you've been moping around for days now and I know that's the only thing you've thought about."

"I'm leaving for Miami tomorrow Rue, what am I going to do?" This thought had been keeping me awake the past few nights. 

"Be professional about it?" Rue suggested. "Your career is the most important thing to you Edom, so focus on the race and do not let some boy distract you from that."

"Wise words Rue." I smiled at her. "Please come with me."

"I wish I could but I have plans this weekend." She seemed to blush slightly

"Oh my god. Tell me now, what is it?" I became excited. 

"Me and Max are going on another date," She smiled. I let out a small scream. 

"OMG Rue that's awesome. Are you guys official yet?"

"Not yet, but I think that might end this weekend!" She squealed and I hugged her aggressively. 

"Please let me know everything afterwards." Rue nodded and I gave her another hug. 

"Now go sleep girl, I know you haven't been sleeping much this week and you need all the strength you can for this weekend. Miami is a crazy place." 

"You're such a mum," I laughed rolling my eyes "But you do know me too well. Thanks, Rue, I love you so much." 

"Love you too," She smiled as I left the room and fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow. 

The next morning, my alarm woke me at 5am and within the hour, I was at the airport. Lando was already in America as he had flown directly there from Baku so I was flying by myself for the first time ever today. 

The process to get onto the plane went smoothly and I slept the whole journey. 

In Miami, I was staying at a Hilton hotel, one of Mclaren's sponsers, so I didn't have to worry about a certain driver staying near me. I checked into the hotel, then went straight to the gym, then straight to work as I needed to do simulation runs. Plane sleep always felt as effective as no sleep, so by the time I got back to my hotel room I was totally exhausted and didn't feel like exploring the night life of Miami, especially not by myself. 

Instead, I watched some comfort movies and fell asleep whilst watching Howl's Moving Castle.

Just a short chapter today but more is coming! 

I literally love Rue so much!!!! 

Hope you guys are managing to survive winter break cuz the only thing keeping me going is watching recordings of earlier races lol.

Also, I don't think I ever said but I got the tickets to Silverstone 2024 and I'm so so so excited. However, it overlaps with a Hozier concert I have a ticket for, so if anyone wants to buy it off me, just comment here and I'll lyk if its still available or answer any questions you have <3333
