There wasn't a single cloud up in the sky, as the Autobots of Optimus Prime's team were helping the humans repair a bridge that the Decepticons trashed some time ago, while the Elite Guard were somewhere else to search for some AllSpark fragments. Bumblebee: "Man... I could really use a break." Optimus Prime: "You just had one two cycles ago." Bumblebee: "But I'm thirsty." Optimus Prime: "Look, the city needs to be repaired after our battle with the Decepticons, so it's partly our fault." Bumblebee: "Yeah, I guess... but it's mostly their fault." said the yellow Autobot, as he looks down to see Lugnut and Blitzwing seeking across the construction yard while carrying several crates of construction equipment. Icy Blitzwing: "I'm beginning to think perhaps we've taken a bit too much supplies as we can't seem to fly off at the moment." that was when Bumblebee came down and stood in front of them. Bumblebee: "What's your hurry?, got something that doesn't belong to you?" Hothead Blitzwing: "I will pound that Autobot into sheet metal!" Random Blitzwing: "Oh look, we already got some!" Lugnut: "No time for that Blitzwing, we have a mission remember?" said the bigger Decepticon, before he and Blitzwing dropped some supplies and transform into their vehicle modes while carrying the rest of the supplies. Bumblebee: "I don't understand why they would steal construction equipment, Decepticons don't build stuff, they break it." Optimus Prime: "We're lucky that they didn't break too much this time." Prowl: "True, though it is a mystery to what they're planning with those supplies..." Sari: "Yeah..." elsewhere, there were a pair of construction vehicles parked near another construction site. The first was a futuristic cross between a bulldozer & a mixer truck, and the second was a futuristic excavator, with the colors of yellow and gray. Suddenly, a pair of AllSpark fragments landed on the vehicles, bringing them life. The excavator (voiced by Tom Kenny) bumped his shovel into the other vehicle (voiced by Jeff Bennett). Mixer truck: "Hey watch where you're pointing that thing, ya shovel head!" Excavator: "Who are you calling shovel head, cement breath?!" Mixer truck: "My name ain't cement breath okay?, it's uh..." Excavator: "Your little name tag says Mixmaster." Mixer truck: "Okay, then I'm Mixmaster, or mix for short." Excavator: "Okay you got it mix, and you could call me... [sees a sign with the word 'scrap' on it] Scrap!" Mixmaster: "Okay, that's a bit too short, how about... Scrapper?" Excavator: "I like it." they were happy that they got names now, but then another thought came to them. Scrapper: "So uh... what do we do now?" Mixmaster: "Duh, we build stuff." suddenly, Mixmaster transformed into robot mode. Scrapper: "Uh Mix, you're building things out of yourself!" said Scrapper, before he transformed himself. Mixmaster: "Yo Scrapper, you're doing it too!" Scrapper: "Uh, we couldn't do that before right?" Mixmaster: "What?, talk, walk, think and move all by ourselves?, I don't think so, we couldn't do any of that stuff before." Scrapper: "You think this is happening for like... a reason?" Mixmaster: "Well yeah... maybe." that was when they a red sports car passing by, and they find it very attractive, so they went off to try win it's affection. Back with the Autobots, they went back to their base as it was the end of they day. Well except for Bulkhead of course, as he got himself stuck on some cement and when got himself free, he knocked over his canister of cement mix. Thanks to the use of expired fixative, Bulkhead's attempts at mixing more cement prove explosive, knocking him out and nearly getting him skewered by iron girders. Thankfully, Mixmaster and Scrapper were in the area and managed to save Bulkhead just in the nick of time. They then help the lumbering Autobot to do the job right (making sure he doesn't leave the fixative lying around, either) and then take him off to a tanker for an oil break. Though Bulkhead is quite pleased with the oil he is served, he soon voices misgivings as to whether they ought to be doing this. Bulkhead: "I better get going guys, the others will be wondering where I am." Mixmaster: "Sure thing, me and Scrapper will be out to get more oil." Bulkhead: "Try not to take too much, the humans need it too." Scrapper: "I don't recall them drinking it, do you?" Mixmaster only shrugged his shoulders in response. The next day, Blitzwing and Lugnut are once again hauling heavy construction materials, this time Laurel and Hardy style up a steep hill. Blitzwing's footing slips, and he was nearly offline by the heavy trailer that sends him careening towards a wall. Bracing for an impact that never comes, he is startled to find Mixmaster and Scrapper have saved him. Mixmaster: "You okay?" Hothead Blitzwing: "Do I look okay?!" Random Blitzwing: "Oh does this dress make me look fat?!" Scrapper: "Whoa... this guy's got more than one face..." said Scrapper quietly to Mixmaster, before Lugnut came up in front of the pair. Lugnut: "What in the name of Megatron are you two?" Scrapper: "I don't know, Autobots maybe?" Hothead Blitzwing and Lugnut: "Autobots!" Mixmaster: "Uh... bad guess, how about... construction bots." Blitzwing sees an opportunity in the pair's brawn, and as police sirens approach, he convinces them to help haul the load. Lugnut objects, worried about Megatron's reaction. Blitzwing reassures him, quietly, that they will offline the two Construction bots immediately after the work is done. Lugnut is all for this plan, and once the goods are delivered, he charges up his bomb punch while Blitzwing distracts the pair. However, Megatron arrives and told them to halt. Megatron: "These two might be useful..." Megatron invites the Construction bots into the Decepticon inner sanctum, which they would find to be quite commodious if they knew the meaning of the word. Once there, they express how cute Megatron's pet (Professor Sumdac) was, and the interstellar warlord shows them the schematics he stole from the Autobots' ship for the building of a space bridge. His hunch turns out to be correct when he finds that the Construction bots display an intuitive knack for grasping construction projects, and they tell him that the supplies he's been gathering will be insufficient to the task. Megatron grins as they reveal to him that they know exactly what is needed and where to get it. The following morning, Bulkhead goes looking for his wayward friends. He finds them, pursued by police drones after a daring heist of construction supplies. Stepping in and generally making a mess of the pursuers, he asks Mixmaster and Scrapper what they're up to. After being told that they stole these materials, he becomes irate because he thought they were so helpful before. They tell him they still are, they're just helping other bots. Becoming suspicious, Bulkhead presses them further and finds out they're working for Blitzwing and Lugnut. The large Autobot tries to convince them that the Decepticons are bad news, but is less than effective. The Construction bots think the Decepticons are just regular fellas and that Megatron is a laugh riot. Bulkhead grows still angrier, saying that Megatron is the worst of the bunch and was only tricking them. This finally clicks in their heads, and they drop what they're doing (on Bulkhead) and tear off down the road to take up their grievances with Megatron. Covered in girders, Bulkhead is unable to pursue. Upon discovering the Construction bots pounding on the steel door of the mine, Megatron is a bit less genial in tolerating their antics. Picking them up by their collars, he slams them against the mountainside and demands to know what they're doing. They explain that they want a piece of him because Bulkhead told them that Decepticons are the scum of the universe and that he'd tricked them. Megatron softens his demeanor and tells a tragic tale of Autobot oppression and the Decepticons being driven from their home world by these cruel tyrants. The Construction bots only understand about every third word of what he says, so he submits it would be a little easier to understand over a barrel of oil. Once inside, Mixmaster and Scrapper are quite impressed by the potency of the oil they're offered, which Megatron reveals to be his 'special blend'. Suitably placated, they listen to his pitch in which he stresses that as Construction bots, they can spend their lives fixing highway bridges, but as Constructicons, they can build space bridges and be the heroes of millions of Cybertronians. Back at the Autobots' earth base, Bulkhead tells his team about his recent encounter with Mixmaster and Scrapper. Optimus Prime: "So they went to the Decepticons?" Bulkhead: "I don't think so, they were mad when they found out that they tricked them, maybe once they calm down, they could lead us to their base." Ratchet: "Or they might show the Decepticons our base." Bulkhead: "But they're my friends, they'll do the right thing." Optimus Prime: "Do they even know the difference?" Right on cue, Scrapper and Mixmaster arrive. Mixmaster: "Yo Bulky." Bulkhead: "Oh hey guys, you're not gonna believe this, but my team thinks you're with the Decepticons." Mixmaster: "Well the thing is that Megatron and his bot said you were evil too." Scrapper: "And we don't know who to believe." Mixmaster: "So uh... we decided to go with the Cons with the better oil." Bulkhead: "But... I thought we were friends..." Mixmaster: "We are friends, that's why we won't hurt ya, as long as you hand over the fragments of the AllSpark." Optimus Prime: "Over my offline body." Mixmaster: "Out of our way you dipstick in the mud!" said Mixmaster, before knocking the Prime over, and this made the other Autobots cross. Bumblebee: "Hey!, he's our dipstick!" Ratchet: "And nobody pushes him around!" A fight ensues, in which the industrial chassis of the Constructicons prove fairly impervious to most of what the Autobots can dish out. Sari: "This has gone far enough boys!" Scrapper: "I might not be able to hit a lady bot [using his leg to trip Sari] but I can trip her." Mixmaster: "Enough fooling around!, give us the fragments or else!" shouted Mixmaster, as Bumblebee was taken hostage and ransomed for the AllSpark fragments. Optimus attempts to stall, but Bulkhead hands them over. As all the Autobots look on in disbelief, he encourages his old friends to have a pair of oil cans as a 'one for the road'. They partake in the offered oil and depart. Optimus Prime: "Come on!, we can still catch them!" Bulkhead: "That won't be necessary... for they're not going anywhere." said the large Autobot simply. His plan is revealed as Mixmaster and Scrapper start to slow down, emitting smoke and having increasing trouble running. Soon, there is an explosion, and the AllSpark fragments' container lands at Bulkhead's feet. Bumblebee: "What just happened?" Sari: "They just blew up..." Bulkhead: "I put a little something in their oil." turns out that Bulkhead had tainted the oil with the expired chemicals from his earlier botched repair job. That was when they noticed the Constructicons were getting back on their feet. Prowl: "They're still moving after that?" Bulkhead: "Not for long!" Optimus Prime: "Bulkhead wait!" said the Autobot leader, as Bulkhead confronts his former friends, but the blast has scrambled their memory. Confused and frightened, they haul tail out of there. The other Autobots couldn't help but feel sorry for Bulkhead as the big Autobot just slammed his fist on the road. Bulkhead: "I was so stupid to trust them... they're no good, they'll never be good..." Optimus Prime: "There's still hope for them Bulkhead, as long as they're not wearing Decepticon symbols, and as long as they don't remember being with them, they still have a choice, next time... let's hope they make the right one."
