I walked away from Jeff and into the lobby of the hotel. I guess I should make that more clear. I walked into Stan, who was in the lobby of the hotel.
"Wow! You're early!" He said, fake amazement in his voice.
I rolled my eyes, he and I both knew I was always early.
"Where's Mom and Ricky?" I asked, smiling at his blunt sarcasm.
"Your Mom's running a little late. She took Ricky out for ice cream."
"Ice cream at this hour?" I asked, astonished and pretending to look at my watch.
Stan rolled his eyes. "Duh! We're on vacation! We're allowed to do crazy weird things." He smiled.
Ricky came running into the lobby with a half eaten and partially melted ice cream cone in his hands. He had chocolate smeared on his face and he was looking to be a little sun-burnt, even at this hour of the day."Hey Sissy! Guess what we got!" Ricky asked, his hand holding the oblivious answer."
"Hmm..." I said, pretending to think hard. "Did you go and get pizza by chance? 'Cause I'm starved."
"No! Silly! We got ice cream!" Ricky said, rolling his eyes, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which, given the circumstances, it was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I smiled at Ricky as he bounced excitedly in his seat as we parked the car in the parking lot at Disneyland. "Are we there yet?" He asked for what seemed like the tenth time.
"Yes, finally we are!" My mom answered, looking at us in the rear view mirror and smiling.
I returned the smile and looked out the window. My smile disappeared instantly as I saw four boys climbing out of a car a couple cars down from us. I groaned, hitting my head back on the plush seat of the car.
Ricky was the first one out of the car, and Stan got out with him to gather the backpack containing sunscreen and other amusement park needs, out of the trunk of the car. My mom remained in her seat and shot me a worried look through the mirror. I glanced at her and looked back at the five boys. Yup, that was definitely them. I sighed.
"Whats the matter honey?" My mom asked, shifting through her purse, collecting her phone and wallet.
"There's a group of guys that are staying in the same hallway as us, and I met them today in the bagel shop, and again on the beach." I responded, taking my phone and money out of my pocket and putting it in a Ziploc, so it wouldn't get wet on the water rides.
"Whats so wrong with that?" She asked, looking at me and following my gaze to the group of boys. "Oh...they're cute, that's the problem." My mom said, as if it was the simplest problem to solve.
I laughed. "No, one of them, the blonde one," I said, pointing out Jeff. (I could point because the windows are tinted) "Kind of picked on me for being bi. He's a stripper." My mom laughed at this.I looked at her. How did she, my mother, of all people, think this was funny? Especially with a hot male stripper involved.I started to laugh too. A stripper was picking on me. Yeah....definitely not something that you could say happens a lot. Our calm laughter high-jacked into the crazy gear.
Our crazy fit of laughter was cut short by Ricky knocking at my window, "Brii!! Hurry up!" He hollered.Groaning, I opened my door reluctantly. My feet hit the warm concrete and I looked up at the boys. Through the windows of the cars in between us, I could see them. And they saw me. I saw five pairs of eyes pierce into me.
I gulped, silently cursing Ricky for saying my name so they could hear it.I heard the doors of the car lock behind me, and I desperately wanted to crawl back inside the car. I inhaled a deep breath. 'Your okay Brii, you can get through the day.'
I looked at the boys, some of them still looking at me. Chad winked, climbing back into the car. I dropped my head back down, noticing the sand from the beach earlier had chipped my toenail polish. 'Time to women up.' I thought. I heard a car peel out of it's parking spot, and I lifted my head up and stared straight ahead as I pridefully walked to the entrance to the park.
I looked back, waiting for my family to follow me. I only registered their looks of concern and fear before I heard tires squeal and smelled rubber burning; everything went black.
