"Elliot! I fucked up!" I shouted as the smoke billowed in the kitchen. The smoke alarm was blaring nearly covering my voice. My hero as always, within a moment he came running in nothing but a towel.

"Dammit Kara!" He shouted staring daggers at me while he sprayed the stove with the fire extinguisher. "This is the third time this week, I can't keep buying fire extinguishers. The guy at the hardware store is already asking questions."

The two of us opened all the windows and he kept staring daggers at me. He was right, this was the third time I forgot something on the stove and set it on fire, this week. My head has been swimming with leads on Kayte. It wasn't an excuse, and he was definitely pissed.

"I'm sorry I was reading this, and next thing I know it's on fire, again." I mumbled putting my head down as he grumbled trying to clean up the mess.

"You're cleaning this up, I don't have the strength. I might say something I regret and I love you too much to do that." Elliot sighed looking at the mess and then to me. Our attention was soon captured by the sound of the door opening.

"What happened?" I heard Sophie's voice ring out. She appeared around the corner, setting down her bags. Her eyes drifted from place to place taking in what I'm sure was a confusing scene.

"Kara happened." Elliot looked between us grumbling before he made his march back to the bathroom. Only then was it that I realized he still had soap in his hair. Sophie looked at me clearly unsure of how to react

"I forgot to watch the stove. I was reading, stuff about Kayte leads." I explained hugging her. I let go, picking up her bags to help get her settled.  "Your room is on the first floor. I was irrationally worried about stairs. You have a full bathroom with a nice shower I might add. I redid the bathrooms when we moved in."

Sophie followed behind me as I showed her to the second downstairs bedroom. She looked around the bare walls, the room had a king sized bed, with a wardrobe, and a dresser on one wall, and a vanity on the other. It had a walk in closet that was fairly large. It was originally my room but the ground floor made me nervous so I opted for the second floor master room.

"Me and Elliot moved the wardrobe in, just Incase you wanted to use the walk in as a temporary nursery. I didn't know your plans after, as far as I'm concerned, this is your home for as long as you want it to be." I quietly told her as she sat on the bed taking everything in. I could see it on her face how scared she still was.

"I don't really have a plan for that part yet, I appreciate it Kara." She whispered looking down at her belly that was starting to really show. The fear on her face told me how alone she felt, it was prompting me to tell her something I thought would stay buried.

"There's somethings I think I should tell you." I sighed sitting down next to her as she turned to me with a concerned look on her face. "At this point, you know I had a baby, I was seventeen, the father was a congressman. At first it was an opportunity. I didn't plan it by any means, but he of course wanted to make it go away."

Sophie just sat listening as she grabbed my hand. Her face told me she knew how hard this was for me to say. It was the one thing I never wanted the team to know, but Sophie needs to know.

"The father gave me money, bought me a house a state over, and told me never to speak to him again. To a kid who'd been on the street doing whatever she had to, just to survive, that was a damn good deal." I sighed before continuing to the painful parts. "I got attached to her, I talked to her every day, it was me and her against the world. When she was born, Sophie she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen."

Her hands just held tighter onto mine when I started crying. She leaned her head against mine unsure of how else to help. She knew I lost her, she knew as much from spying on me and Nate.
