18. Consequences of catching a fluffy Bunny

Taehyung's POV

"Tae hyung! Tae hyung! Look there.." Jungkookie whispers to me, pointing at a rock.

"What's there?" I frown, bending a little to take a better look. I couldn't see anything.

"Shh.. there's a small bunny behind it. White and brown, fluffy! I wish I could touch it," he says and quietly starts moving towards the rock.

I couldn't help but smile, watching him go to catch the fluffy bunny he was talking about. Just as he reaches the rock, the rabbit suddenly jumps out from behind it and starts hopping away in a frenzy. I don't know what caught my head at that moment but suddenly I start dashing behind the rabbit, shrugging my backpack off my shoulder and dropping it on the ground.

"Tae!" I hear Jungkook shudder.

Then the next moment, I hear Mr Park's voice shouting at me to come back. But I don't stop. I keep running behind the rabbit. In a few seconds, I hear another man's voice which I soon recognise as one of the two forest officers. I could also hear heavy footsteps following me closely behind. The man was shouting at me to stop. But I still don't stop!

In my eyes, I could only see the fluffy white and brown rabbit running in front of me and I wanted to catch it by any means. At last, I make a swift launch and fall forward onto the brown earth, hitting the ground with a heavy thud. I groan out in pain but then laugh seeing the bunny in my hands. I clutch it tightly, smirking at it. "Bunny, you thought you could escape?"

"Boy! What the hell is wrong with you?" The forest officer shouts behind me at the top of his lungs. I quickly jump up, securely holding the bunny against my chest. "Are you crazy? What the heck?!" The man starts furiously raining a series of curses at me. I stand there quietly, tightly holding the trembling bunny in my arms, letting him yell at me as much as he wants. But I don't feel guilty.

"Leave that rabbit and follow me!" He finally snarls at me.

"Please, just let me show it to my friend once," I beg him.

He lets out a sigh and starts to walk. I follow him behind, firmly holding the bunny to my chest, one hand clutching its ears together. I could soon see our team in the distance. I didn't know how exactly Mr Park was going to react. But I knew he sure would be so mad and I mentally prepared myself to be heavily scolded again.

But to my utter surprise, Mr Park doesn't scold me. He just lets out a sigh on seeing me with the bunny in my arms. He doesn't even utter a word. He stares at me for some time and then simply resumes his walk. The others keep staring at my bunny for a few more seconds before they also follow Mr Park and the officers, muttering and whispering things as if in disbelief.

"Taehyung, what did you do?" Jungkook finally asks me, once we're left alone. He still looks panicked.

"You said you wanted to touch him," I smile at him.

"Hyung, are you out of your mind? Why'd you run to catch this bunny just cause I said I wished to touch it? Do you know how much worried Mr Park and everyone got?" He snaps at me, looking unimpressed. I thought he'd be happy.

"I'm sorry.." I mumble and look down at the bunny in my hands, gently stroking it.

Jungkook lets out a sigh and picks up my bag that was lying on the ground where I left it. Then he comes closer to me and glances at the rabbit in my hands. At last, he reaches his hands and softly strokes the still trembling fluff ball. "Do you wanna hold it?" I ask, slowly grabbing my bag from his hands, still clutching the bunny tightly with my other hand. He doesn't reply and just snatches the bunny from my arms. I couldn't help but grin at him, putting my bag over my shoulders.
